    what engine managment?

    I don't know where to post this and it seems that this is the best place. I just installed my gtx bpt, and would like to run an aftermarket engine/stand alone/ managment. I was talking to the guys at corksport, and they suggested a apex s-afc or somthing like that. What are ya'll runnin or what you ya'll suggest? I would like to be able to controll the fuel curve, the boost levels, and asmany things as possible to get the most out of my motor. Thanks guys.

    Well I use an afc, but its very limited. I would save the money and get a stand alone, thats what I plan on doing pretty soon.

      The s-afc is not a standalone, it's just a piggyback. Haltech is a popular choice for a standalone. Keep in mind that you'll need a lot of tuning time to get the most out of the motor with any engine management you run.

          i ran a HKS s-afc for a while but then i upgraded to the standalone haltech. the piggy back isn't able to fine tune your engine at every rpm needed i believe only every 250rpm and able to only change fuel/air mixture +-5% where as with the haltech you control everything every 100 rpm and +-1% fuel air mixture. also if you ever want to do anything else: 2nd turbo, super charger, nos, etc you can make the adjustment easy. only prob with the haltech is that the learning curve on tuning and wiring it all up

            I'm pretty sure you can only tune the Haltech in 500rpm increments.

              I just checked my e6k. You're right. My bad!@!!! But you are still able to tune it +-1% mixture.

                BUT you can tune the Wolf 3D V4 in 125rpm increments... why hasn't anybody tried this yet?

                  I think its probably that most people know that the HALTECH does the job. If i were to do it over again I'd switch to something with a WINDOWS interface for sure.

                  See the thing about the HALTECH though is that,even though you can't tune at every 125RPM. if you're going at 6250, your fuel air mix would still be a mix between both the 6000 and 6500. not the 6000 mixture then changing the 6500. know what i mean?

                      Yes, but that is linear. Sure it does the job, but if you want more control, it won't do. Being able to adjust fuel timing at higher increment levels allows for betTAR fuel maps for given airflows at a certain rpms. For example, when the VICS on our engine engages, the air velocity does not change in a linear fashion. You would have to trigger it on one of Haltech's 500rpm marks. Yet, VICS is activated advantageously at a slightly higher or lower rpm (depending on where you would activate it on the Haltech).

                          Check the pinout against yours, it may work, but its still alot of money...

                          Haltech, Microtech, AEM, FAST, SDS, Motec, Electromotive, Custom Made, they all work...

                            so getting back to the question... For a newby who whats to be able to controll air/fuel mixture, is the apex unit a good unit for the price or should I just go balls out and do a stand alone? The s-afc is in 500rpm increments at +-5% I believe. How big of a jump is 5%? I am just learning about engine manegment, but would love all the knowledge I can gain.
