    faulty bov?

Here is my latest problem. I was having trouble w/ my ic tubes blowing off, so I bought some bad ass hose clampes. Now it seems I have cracked my bov. When ever I build boost I can hear it excaping from somewhere, also, it spools a lot faster than befor and has no acceleration, but at idle the car runs fine. This leads my to believe that there isn't a vacuum leak just some type of wierd air bypassing. So to test this problem, I unhooked the outlet tube from the bov -I am using the stock gtx bov- and the car died. So, it seems to me that the bov is allowing air to pass through it when it should be closed. I then fully removed it from the car and upon inspection noticed that it lookes like the two parts of the body of the bov are comming apart. I super glued the crack and am about to reinstall it. If anyone has an idea of what else might be going on please help.
Too bad I have AWD and you don't!

If you are unsure, you can always make a leak-down tester and apply presure manually so you can acuatlly find out where your leak is...

So I glued the bov and I am still having the same problem. How do you make a leak tester? Also does or has anyone had a bov allowed air to flow through it, and how would you test it. This is becoming a big thorn in my side and I just want it to run right.

The only time a bov should be allowing air to pass through is when you release the gas while in boost. Bascially, while in boost it stays closed and then when you let off the gas, the vaccum created by the engine opens up the valve and releases the pressure. Seeing as your car is not accelerating, it may be that the air in the intake pipes is not being released when the throttle plate is closed (off throttle) and it is backing up in the piping and causing the turbo to come to a complete stop between gears. This will lead to a damaged turbo down the road if not taken care of.

To test the BOV, just remove it from the system all together, I used a couple of rubber corks to seal them. Then just drive around and see if it improves. From your description, it sounds to me like you have a plugged Catalytic perhaps. If you want to pressure test your intake system; Pick-up an old bike tire tube of approx the same dimension as your pipes. Cut it in half. Clamp it on the on pieces you want to test and "Pump it up!"
