Little quetion about rim + tire size

Okay I had 205/40/17 Tires with 17in rims and I measured from the bottom of the tire to the top of the tire with the rim on the tire and it came out to be 22in Im getting 215/35/18 with 18in rims will it be the same as the 17s with 40s tires 22inchs or a inch bigger...

        The tire calculator says
        205/40-17 Diameter=23.5in
        215/35-18 Diameter=23.9in

I'm not sure how you got 22in in the first place since the closest match is to
        22in is 205/30-17

He is trying to tell you that the 18's will be .4 inches higher than the 17's. The only tire/rim combination that would equal out to a 22 inch overall diameter would be a 205/30-17, which we all know you can't run.

ignore the tape measure, just use the numbers the tire calculator gives you
