    Turbo MP3 vs. Turbo P5

Well today I headed over to my Mazda dealership to visit with one of the salesmen. He has a Protege5 with the Spool stage 1 kit and straight through 2.5" exhaust. We figured we would see if the FMIC on my kit makes that much of a difference on the same boost levels. We both ran 5psi and started from a ~5mph roll. Well seeing that this was the first time I have tried to launch with the turbo it is safe to say I had no traction. In fact I did a pretty nasty burnout, white smoked the tires. Mike knew how to launch better and jumped about 2 car lengths on me after first gear. I pulled within about 1 car length by 3rd. Through 4th neither of us pulled at all. We stayed at the same speed for the most part. Once we hit 5th he backed off because of the lack of FMIC and I of course passed him. We were both pretty suprised at how even the cars are. Now granted I will be able to take him at a higher boost level and be able to run higher safer because of the FMIC. I then proceeded to try to run my friend's turbo SI. He absolutey smoked me. But he was running 7psi and making 230whp with it. Pretty mean civic.

Just wait until you can better deal with the traction issues.

He should have less delay, because he is not running an intercooler. I figure if you can solve your traction issues then smoking him off the line should be no problem.

It also doesn't help that my tires are almost bald. Trying to save up enough to get new wheels at the same time as tires.

I plan on keeping these bald ones though. Use em as the "poor man's slicks."

Wasn't that another thing you said you absolutely loved about the car and weren't going to change? Oh wait, I found it:

If I could find somebody local to powdercoat them and not paint them I would keep them. But everybody wants to paint them and charge an ass load at the same time. May as well just spend an extra couple hundred and get new wheels. And actually the wheels I am deciding about right now are a very similar design to the RH's.

Are you going for gunmetal again?

I really can't decide. I can't find a style rim I like with a high offset and low weight. Not to mention money is an issue. I really don't want to go with gunmetal because I don't "plan" on doing a cf hood or anything like that. Besides I think bronze would look excellent with the Laser Blue. I really want to get the Rota Attacks in the gb over at msprotege.com. But they are $650 which is a little over my budget. But they are the only wheels that I have liked that I have seen lately.
