    Funny thing happend...

when i went to install my front low tie bar this afternoon, i finally got my stands so everything was lookin green. Well short story shorter, my tranny is in the way on that side, i mean after its bolted up and fully screwed. SO is it possible that i have a bigger tranny since its not the original, or do i have the one defect dx of the bunch

they bolt to the fronts of the control arms (LCA) or A arm. It's a big 17mm bolt.

If you look DIRECTLY behind your oil drain plug, you'll see the bolt in question. It's only about 2" away. thats the bolt you need.

Ima assume thats yer tranny right therr, if it is then i truely do not have a protege tranny, i think my "new" one is off a truck or something, its huge. See that space around where the bar is connected, well i dont have that, i have a big old blocky lookin devil oil leaking thing about an inch away. Good news..........my passenger side looks they way it should

could you do that for me mark, my digi cam is unavalable at the moment and hopefully we have the same tranny.

The only thing thats stopping instalation really is the width of the "circle" around where the bolt would go on, any hazards in taking off some material from there? I want to put the front one on, but not if its gonna be a safty hazard you know.

Edit: Talking to dave this mournin we figured out that my tranny is from a 1.9 escort, went pic searchin for about an hour and every tranny shown matches mine, sigh, guess these are off to the sell slot to now

Here is what mine looks like:
Drain plug is on the bottom. (yummy, its really messy under there!)

On the other side it LOOKS like I will have room to get the bolt out w/o jacking the motor up.

in the first pic, the bolt head you see middle/top right just under the CV boot is the one you attach the tie bar too. I see no reason why it wouldn't fit, lots of room there.

In the 2nd pic, it MAY come out, but that bolt is about 5" long.
