I've a 2000 Mazda Protege and yesterday while changing the oil, I found some rust on the Oil Pan. Is it normal ? I've other friends' cars which are like 10 years old and there is nothing. Wondering, if it is somewhat manufacturing defect ? How much it cost to replace this ? and what are the outcomes ? Please suggest..

No I did not do anything... Last time I changed the oil in April it was all ok... and suddenly this time I noticed the rust.. -

mine does too, just wire brush it off, apply wax and grease remover and repaint. Rocks and other things hit it an chip the paint. Metal exposed to elements rusts.
