ok I think I'm stuck with the RHD harness... which is perhaps why I can't get my car started.

can you be more specific? where exactly does it need to be extended? for what wires?

      thanks

Since the engine is from Japan (RHD country) the harness comes through on the right hand side of the car in theory where the cluster would be. Since we have LHD cars, with the cluster on the LH side, the wires enter the car on the wrong side.

The harness must be extended to "reach" plugs b/c of the side difference. Which wires need to be exteneded? I cant give you anexact answer since I have not done it. My guess to tell you is figure out which plug needs to go where and then measure and add the wire needed. I am sure there is an easier way to do it by entending in the middle section to make it reach over to the right or something, I just dont know for sure. Never done it....sorry.... Good luck.

you have it backwards dude.....the RHD harness come through the left side of the forewall and the LHD harness on the right side

do I? I thought that since the cluster was on the left for american cars, the wires came through on that side of the car to connect to the cluster.....

If what you are saying is true then the JDM harnesses would not need to be exteneded when they do need to be. If the RHD (JDM harness) came through on the left where our cluster is then nothing would need to be extended as the plugs would be right there....

some plz correct me if I am wrong....

the harness doesnt connect directly to the gauges, it clips to the ecu then to plugs next to it that run up to the cluster

Why hasn't anybody just tried cutting a hole in the firewall rather than extending the harness? Seems like it would be easier that way. (assuming of course that there is a free spot to cut into)

I thought I remembered reading somewhere where someone did do that and it ended up being more of a nightmare avoiding wires/lines etc.

I used a RHD Harness and didnt extend it at all. You just have to put it in before the motor and take your time running it.
