    what the correct oil

what the correct oil to use in the very hot caribbean for my 2nd gen Pro.I use quaker state performance 20W-50 oil now. Should I use a 10W-30.

the manual for my 3rd gen says 10w30 for up past 120 degrees. I think you would be safe with that.

It'd probably be best to check your manual on this one. I have a 2nd Gen 1.5L Z5 engine and my manual says nothing of 20W-50 oil. Only 10w30 and I believe 5W30 for the colder temp range.

use the grade of oil that the manual says for your temperature range
            which is 10W30

if you dont mind the added cost, go synthetic
they work well with more extreme temperatures

              I use 10W 30 all year round...

On the next change on the 323 I may try 5W 30 ... I just changed the oil in the protege so it won't get changed till about January.

              As for 20W 50 . I am not sure.

20W50 is some thick oil. You should be fine with 10w30. I have been using mobil1 for most of the car's life.

And what benefit does that have to the engine when using full synthetic works good? It it ain't broke, don't fix it.

you could do that, OR just use all synthetic

in the philippines, we tend to stay with the regular mineral oils since its thicker..a lot of us experience leaks in the valve cover gasket when we use full synthetic oil in our engines..maybe its the weather..hehehe

best bet is too follow what the manual says..
