    Fuel cut???

ok so i just finished getting a bpt installed in my EGT. when i went to try to start it it cranks but wont start up and the fuel cut light comes on in the dash. what could be causing the fuel cut to be on and not give me any fuel???

Do these engine swaps require some sort of outside fuel management?

I am pretty sure that light comes on when you put the key in the on position when the motor isnt running. I do remember hearing that you have to do some re-wiring when swapping in the GTX because of the fuel pump or somthing like that, but I am not 100%.

The light he's probably talking about is the fuel light. As far as the problem, check over the wiring for the fuel pump relay by the ecu. Also, did you install a bigger fuel pump? I tried starting my GTR on the stock DOHC pump and it would crank but wouldn't fire until I installed a bigger fuel pump.

i installed a bpt into my 91 escort gt , using gtx ecu and wiring harness with the gtx motor to , i had the same problem i was not getting fuel , what i did was hard wired the fuel pump to the battery to see if that would work sure enough it did. So try that. for some resaon the gtx harness has some fuel pump rezitor that alot of the times don't come included in alot of the harnesses, i ended up leaving it this way and i just have a switch that i have to turn on to start my fuel pump.
as far as the rewireing look at searching for jacobb russell he has a page that telles you witch wires you need to splice to get everything working it's like 6 or 8 wires , i did it that way ,
But on a nother page for escorts(a forum that is down right now ERDTsocal.com) a guy on there did no slicing useing a gtx ecu on a stock american spec harnees (1.8 doch harness) and his car run fine and good and that guyed was saying that a lot of people make the swap alot harder than it really is . Also i think that guy works at CORKSPORT .
              thanks ryan

Apparently the FUEL CUT light is a feature of the Escort GT

                    :D lol!

The GTX factory set up has a resistor and relay on the bulkhead / firewall under the bonnet to lower the voltage to the fuel pump when the engine is only lightly loaded. I'm guessing the problem you guys have in doing the transplant may well be that you're not swapping this part over or not using the GTX loom?

im using the stock escort gt wire harness not the gtx one, i guess it turns out im not getting spark, but i do have power to the coil. im thinking it may be a bad/damaged distributer that came with the gtx motor i got.

If you have a shop manual, it gives a good checklist to diagnose spark problems.
