besides an alternator and a bad battery?? On my wife's miata, the battery keeps getting drained for some unknown reason. THanks

What else could cause a battery to die

mine is doing the same thing my battery died so i unhooked my sound system compltlety charged the battery threw it in there died again. so i had it jumped lasted 5 min. died on my way home..... so i charged it went 2 advance auto 2 have them check the battery and alt.. and htey said they whre both perfectly fine.. so im like wtf... charge it up tighten the pos and neg cables realy tight.. its goin good hten 2day i go to turn on my lights, and my speakers start 2 crackle then my radio turned off..???? i turn hte lights off and the radio turned back on .. so i got home turned the car off.... went 2 start it and it wouldnt start...?? anyone got any ideas?

1st, with the car off, test the battery, watch for ANY fluctuation in volts. then turn the key on (do not start yet) again, watch for ANY fluctuation in volts. Then start it, you should see between 13.8 and 14.4 volts, give or take. again, watch for ANY fluctuation i volts. A few millivolts is normal, but if it dips up to a volt, there's a prob.
then ya gotta get down and dirt checking all the wires, circuits etc... bad grounds and loose fuses are likely suspects.
these kind of things are near impossible to diagnose online. So many factors and so many wires, etc to test. Bust out a multimeter or bring it to an electrical specialist.
