    Drift suspension

Ok, I skimmed the forums and archives and such, and found a couple of threads that related to my question but still there are answers that remain out of my grasp.

ok... so I know I need my front end suspension fixed up. My car bobs up and down like one of those spring riders you see little kids play on at the park. My left coil is broken JUST below where it meets the bottom plate, so it doesn't wrap around to meet itself like it should. I spend way more time drifting and rallying then I do racing so, I want to get a nice setup in there for taking the beating that comes with the job description.

I read alot about the ZX-2 Tokico's (although I don't want to lower my car an 1") and the HP Blues... but I was wondering what would happen if I replaced the struts and not the coils and then did the coils later... I would like to do them both now but I'm a little limited in the funding.

Any suggestions guys? I'm leary about how fast my new struts would deteriorate if I didn't replace the springs as well. So any advice would be appreciative ^_^

    thanks

Save up until you can do both struts and springs together on atleast the front. Besides the possibility of the struts wearing out quicker with bad springs, why would you want to go through the extra work of pulling that out again and paying for an alignment a second time?

unless you are a master of the Inertia-Drifto, drifting is unpossible

i dotn care what videos there are or anythign, fwds are impossible to drift. Drifting is controlling your slide with your rear wheels. Puling your ebrake is called sliding, not drifting. FWDs CAN NOT DRIFT.

i thought drifting was controlling the rear during oversteer, around corners specifically.
my car drifts, the rear rotates outward and the angle is controllable with the gas pedal
its not tail way out D-1 style show drift
                but the rear drifts outward..oh
                and fun,

yes drifting is controlling your angle with your gas pedal. Which you cant do with a fwd and an ebrake.

Well, there is one of those videos of the Saudi driver with a Camry... and he is in traffic. It looks just like he is drifting. It is insane.

Last time I was at a drift competition with my corolla, there was this discussion because a guy with a 96 civic si wanted in on the fun. Well, if you "drift" a fwd car, it's called a powerslide. For a true drift, you need a RWD car so you can control the angle and speed of the car as you are going through the turn. If a fwd car goes into a turn and goes sideways, you have no control over the rear wheels unless you pull the ebrake in which case you are just going to stop the wheels from spinning leaving you with a lack of control.

exactly what he said. FWD drifting does not exist. Plain and simple. There's no "well I saw my friend do it...." bs or anything like that. You cant drife a fwd. PERIOD. You can powerslide, but its not actual drifting.

All I needed to drift my Protege were the 2 worn and warped back tires and a very poor alignment. Drifted in the rain around corners, very controllable, but very dumb too.

I have done parking brake drifting in my 323, but that's for the hell of it, I'm not pretending to be something I'm not...but I did do pretty good.
