    Oil Scraper for 1.8L BP

SgtRauksauff posted this on the ERDT board:

I wanted to know what you guys think about it. Worth it or what?

Opinions? (looking at the autox/road racers here)

The theory sounds OK to me, but I'm always kind of nervous about messing with oil flow. I bet you'd get a few horses out of it.

In terms of autocross and racing, most classes (in SCCA) do not allow something like this. Only the higher, very mod intensive, very expensive classes where you could also knife-edge the crank itself.

Well I wouldn't be doing it for HP increase, I'd be doing it for a sort of insurance.

I don't think the rules up here in Canada go that far into detail. Besides, they don't care what class you're in or supposed to be in until you start winning.

I've never heard of any issues with BP motors dying because of it. Especially on any sort of small time thing like our cars. Sure an E Production Miata might have issues, but not us running around cones or doing track days.

That's true. Never had any oil pickup problems in any of my Miatas at the track, even with measured sustained 1.3g's.

              MBSP???

Are all BP engines supposed to have the MBSP? I am swapping a BP from a '95 Escort GT into my 323 and there is no MBSP on the engine. Should I be concerned? Are there big advantages to having it or should I not bother trying to find one?

The Escort motors didn't have one....apparently
