For those who want to swap a JDM engine

I don’t know if this is particular of Montreal but when it comes to JDM we have a lot of choices locally so I thought I would give you my take on them.
These impressions are based mostly on what I have seen at these places, and some on what I have read on local forums,
This is not intended as some kind of recommendation for one shop or another. But since I had the chance to go and see all of those operations I tough I would share my experiences.

    Japan Domestic Motors
Have a good reputation locally, Always a good choice of engine on hand, shop look like the pictures you see on the site. They were always helpful

    Nagano Japanese Import
Reputation is 50/50 locally, good choice of engine on hand, shop look like in the pictures you see on the site. Where somewhat helpful

    Osaka Motors
They have the worst rep here in Montreal, Lots of engine staked on top of each other. Shop and engine not as clean as the pics.

    Sunrise Motors
Could not get much info on them, but from personal experience they where very helpful and the picture on the web reflect reality,

    Tokyo Motors
Not much info about them either, not helpful at all, and do not inspire trust

    Fast and Furious JDM
New guys opened up about 6 months ago, friendly and helpful

    JDM Online
well these guys say they’re not an On-line company, but all I can say is that the address they give is a residential one in an apartment building , the telephone number is a cellular number and the fax number is from a different area of Montreal than the address. Draw your own conclusions I did.

    Shine Motors
These guys are not in Montreal but in Toronto, But they were very helpful when I contacted them, they got me info really quick and the owner has a brother that is opening a shop in Montreal. I would check them out

I know there are 2 or 3 more shops in the city but I have not seen them yet so I wont comment.

I hope this is helpful to you guys

i was looking at the websites and it seems Japan Domestic Motors had the best price for a BP-T engine. the price included:

    Motor • Complete Intake Manifold
    • Transmission • Power Steering Pump
    • Engine Wiring Harness • Alternator
    • All required Cables • A/C
    • ECU • All Brackets and Sensors
    • Distributor

with all these you are basically all set to do the swap.

Prices are good engines are clean, BUT
wiring harness is always cut (like everybody else)
      ECU is not always there
you need to tlak to them to get the real price
