    headlights

i'm interested in installing the HID headlights on my car...i mean, they're only like 12.00 and look better. but what should i do about the fog lamps? i'm just wondering if anyone has done this and what they did about the fog lamps, if the stock lamps' color looks stupid with a HID headlight

    thanks

Those aren't HIDs and they will be inferior...

    I would recommend Osram Silverstars

I have the cheap kind of blue bulbs in my Protege, and while they perform to about 90% of the stock bulbs, I am keeping them in there simply because of how much cooler they look. They aren't so inferior that they are intolerable.
Dark Blue '99 Protege LX w/ 3.3 kohm sensor resistor, blue xenon headlights and backup lights, blue Street Glow under front seats in interior, clear corners and mesh grille being shipped at the moment.

In Ontario, they can't forbit a car from having blinding blue/white lights cuz most new BMWs and Benzs have them... so you can't single out a single group.

The factory headlights on 3rd Gen suck. I haven't seen an aftermarket one that I like so far. I just hear that they don't last long. Otherwise, I would like to have a flourescent bulb in place of the yellowish factory.

are you serious, flourescent??? I dont even think they make anything like that, it would be dumb and dangerous, not enought light!....get a silverstar bulb if you dont want to risk being illegal by converting to HID

I have always wondered why people insist on compromising the function of some part of the car, especially a safety item like lights, just to make them "look better."

                      HAHA, agreed.

I couldn't see five feet in front of my '85 RX-7 in pitch black with the brights on. Crappy headlights...

A set of Eurodezigns bulbs I installed managed to have one go out within 2 weeks and the other one that kept working burnt my housing so beware.
These "HID looking" bulbs may seem like a good deal, but there are certainly risks involved other than initial cost.

Sure can and they do. These bulbs ar egenerally for off road use only in Ontario. I believe the common test around here involves a sheet of paper in front of the lights.

What are you? On crack? The Gen3 headlights are awesome! They out perform all current headlights as well as the Audi headlights.

The gen3 factory lights are the brightest on any car I've ever driven... I went through three different sets of the cheap krypton/xenon bulbs on my old car within about two months. They were never as bright even as the factory bulbs on my '89 Chevy Cavalier and they burned out fast. The only ones that were good were the Sylvania Silverstars, and those cost $40 a pair and I still don't think they were as bright as the stock gen3's.
