nice:biggrin: the bd series is the best thing RF has put out since their old skool amps that were so solid and powerful;) i've thought about putting a set of 1501bd's on my brahma:biggrin: i just gotta get the manager of the shop that sells them to cut me a good deal;)

Rockford Fosgate Power Series 501bd, Rated at 500wx1@2ohm. Puts out 629!

why are you using the RF amp instead of the jbl amp?

Rider69

Well, using the RF for a few reasons:

1. Going to a 2 amp setup versus the 3 amps I have now, and I wanted them to be matching amps.
2. I like the way these amps look better than the JBLs.
3. The color of the amps will fit better into my installation design.
4. I sold the JBL 600.1 to MisterT and am going to sell the other amps (p80.4 and the p180.2).
5. This is an even more efficient amp than the JBL.

Have you installed it yet and how does it sound? I guess now you are going for some nice components up front. Keep us posted. ;)

Yes, I have installed it and it really hits hard. It is taking some getting used to in setting the gains and such. Next up is to work on getting the new components up front.

your complaint was that your focals were to bright or what? its a 3-way setup correct?

Rider69

Yes, the Titanium tweeters in the focals are too bright and with the custom door panels and 8" woofers going in, There is no need for the 3-way set.

:ak47: we'll see about that ;) rider, did you find out which components you are going to put up front??

Haven't made the final decisions yet, but so far I am leaning towards either the Kicker RS5c components or the Eclipse SC8352 components. They both sound really nice. I know the Eclipses are geared more toward SQ than the Kickers are, but hte Kickers get decent reviews and they are cheaper. I can get the Kickers for $150/set on ebay (like$350 retail), while the Eclipses are going for about $180.

Oh, and BTW...Blue does have first dibs on the Focals!

you can get those kicker componets on ikesound for 185. ebay is cheaper, but it alteast has some kind of warranty ;)

Rider, did you try going with lower crossover settings on the focals?

Rider69

I believe that the tweeters are already at the lowest setting

walight01

have you tried putting the tweater at an off axis position. maybe low in the door and not aime tirectly at you???

Does the Fosgate give you more power than the JBL ever did? I can't wait to see the new set up. I still need to get a hold of a digital camera. I have Blue's boxes in replacing the old prefab one. Bass sounds a whole lot better too!

All of these suggestions are great if I was going to keep the current setup. But I am changing out the whole front setup.

A guy who I got my kick panels from has a pair of Boston Acoustics Neo ambient tweeters which he says dramatically improves the soundstage lifting it up since his speakers are in the doors. He told me that with that and the time correction (I believe) on his Alpine unit dramatically improved the SQ of his system. He has a page on Sound Domain Member ID is leebanger. Nice set up! The Bostons in his door (now) are the $1K a set models:eek: I know most of us don't have that kind of money to throw around, but the NEO 5T ambient tweeters are $200 a pair with crossovers are a little more reasonable. He has them in the pillars of the car. You have probably have seen the set up before, but if not, check it out. ;)
