    Brake Seized

Hey wondering if anyone has had this problem before. My rear brake is staying seized, now this happened on the 14 of Dec. i towed the car in to mazda and they said its never happened before, the tow truck driver told me other wise. This morning the 19 of dec, it happened again. Im pretty pissed right now. its a 03 P5, and to tell you the truth ive been pretty happy with the car.

Now the thing is i do allot of the maintance myself, im an industrial mechanic, so i know my ****. The guys at mazda asked me if i lubed the slider and i told him no, the thing is that doesnt seize anything, the cailper pushs out then back in, even if there is moisture and it freezes, with the heat that the brake and rotor got to it would have unfroze.

Now mazda fixed this problem on the 14, but now like i said it happened again, so if i didnt do the right maintance fine, but they must of done **** all cuz its only been 5 days.

Let me know if there are anyone else in the same boat.

My front right caliper seized also...I didnt lube my slider pins either. I took the opportunity to upgrade to ES calipers/rotors and do it right this time.

i dont think so, ive done the brakes on my other cars, never have i done that and never have they seized. Plus to have that done from the dealer that would mean that it would take at least 20 mins to do one disk brake, 03 P5 has 4. If the whole maintance is done in under an hour, that means something gets short ended. Thats just what i think.

Greasing the sliders might sound like a new idea to you, but its very important. Slider freezing in the caliper does not happen in all cars, but it does happen. It happened in mine, and I was told that it was very common for my 2nd gen, as well as Escorts as well. But it looks to me that you are worried about spending money at the dealer's. Your car is only 03, and unless you have a ton of miles on the car you might be able to convince the dealer to fix it for free, you know, as a defect, or premature failure. Goodluck.
