What is the purpose of putting tape or stickers on the headlights?

    Check out this link:

why do i always see autocrossers and racers and whatnot with tape on their headlights?

is it supposed to mean something?
just seems like a waste of tape....

I think it's to protect the headlights. Small rocks can be problematic under racing conditions

but like... how bout the rest of the car... lol

like the hood and the windows and stuff, seems odd to want to protect the headlights when everything else is equally exposed

and like, solo2 autocrossing, you dont even reach highway speed (60 mph)... so stones cant be THAT much of a hazard

They tape the headlights, so that if the glass gets cracked it won't break out and end up on the track. Common sense, people. Common sense! :p:

LOL, I cheated, and used Google.

            lol

plastic still shatters.... it's really hard to "shatter" the hood for comparison.
