i had my flywheel shaved. which engine miata are you talking about?? the 1.6L or the 1.8?? i would assume that the flywheels are similiar between the pro and mx5, concidering that they share a similiar block.

    So his engine he goosed
    With much too much boost,
And drove a rod through his block.

i was just told that lighter flywheels arent a good idea for the proteges because it puts added stress on the tranny. I dont see how that would be a big factor unless you were running like 200hp or something.

there is a person in australia with that red familia gtx that did a write up on his car, included in the write up was how he and several others blew trannies due to the added stress of a lightened flywheel...and ive blown a g series tranny...no mess, its not fun, its expensive, and its not worth it for a weight savings of around 10 lbs

Some of the transmissions in cars with the older versions of the BP can't handle as much stress... I'm pretty sure the Canadian Protege from 90-91 fall in this category but don't hold me to that.

i shaved 8 thou off of my flywheel. it needed resufacing. 8 thou is not a lot of weight. But yeah we need the momentum of our heavier flywheels

dont bother, just leave the stock flywheel. if you want have the crank, blueprinted and ballanced.
