    BP into 96 escort wagon

Even tho I am 80% sure that the BP could drop in place of the 1.9L, I would like to get some feedback on the swap.

using GT parts for the swap, motor, tranny, ECU, cross member. what other GT specifics would i need?

My reason for this odd swap: extreme sleeper.

    thanks

    extremely heavy sleeper, still slow.
According to my Anger Management Counselor, after 26 weeks of anger management class, I should be an expert when it comes to Anger Management...tell that to the guy who threw a starburst at my car in rush hour traffic...haha

How does this help me with my questions?

Let me worry about the body, my questions concern the engine bay and engine differences.

The 1.9 Ford motor is not very similar to the BP's from what I understand... i'm guessing that a EGT parts car would be necessary at the least. But being that the base curb-weight for a '96 Escort wagon is only 2,444lbs it's not really any heavier than a 1st gen Protege LX.

*edit: according to www.edmunds.com the Escort wagon weighs less than a 1st gen Protege LX... so scratch the heavy sleeper comment

thanks for the answer, so you think the EGT crossmember and axles should drop-in?

I plan on hunting down a wrecked EGT and transfering as many parts as possible. I figure most parts should be bolt ons.

          thanks

as LSCRX said, get yourself an EGT parts car. You can get a Protege LX, but you'll need some other Ford parts to complete it.

You may want the EGT rear disc brakes.

            It all swaps over.

On www.feoa.net there is a guy who has one and it is very quick, actually there is a couple. i forgot his Screenname. everything is the same, as the Gt's besides the obvious engine/tranny/electronics/harness/ecu. you dont need the crossmember it sthe same. back when ERDT was still up ther ewas alot more BPT wagons.

Have you looked into an SPI swap? They have less power but are much eaiser to put in. From what i've read you can use the stock tranny, just make sure it's from a 97.

I had a 1.9 wagon that was somewhat modified before I got my EGT and it was fairly quick for being a wagon(nothing special at all mind you but it made people stop laughing at the tach on my dash and be like WTF?! real fast). And as far as I know all you need is a GT parts car. Switch over the engine, axles, transmission, ECU/wiring and whatnot, basically just relocate everything underneath the GT hood (including washer fluid bottle/coolant overflow bottle/etc.) to underneath the wagon hood. And switch over the gaugue cluster while you're changing the wiring harness. Don't quote me on the accuracy of this it's just what I remember because I read up on doing the swap into my wagon when it got rear ended because I was getting a lot more than I paid for it from the accident.

As for the whole process I think it's just unbolt one thing bolt it in place of the other thing. But like I said I'm not 100% sure it was like August when I read about it.

*And for the SPI swap all you need is the fuel rail from a 97 engine.

there's a couple EGT's on eBay for less than a grand, one of them is a five-speed and the other's an automatic.
