Well if you have the 1.5 , you have 2 options.
1. Motor swap to 1.8 then turbo .. (do a search on how)
2. Fully rebuilt 1.5 with overboard pistonds, ported polished head and regrind cams, custom T25 ball bearing turbo or a T3. Stand alond engine management, ES protege brakes front and rear disks.
200 can be reached, but money = power.

Why waist the time or money on rebuilding a 1.5?
There's no telling how much it would cost to do that.
Also, What's wrong with your interior?Mike A.

Get a custom turbo manifold made.
Get a Stand alone , for optimal power.
Get bigger ES or 1st gen LX brakes (how to will be coming soon) so you can stop.. (rear discs also )
Fill all mounts with Polyurethane...
I would have done this, but money was my biggest issue.

If i werent worried about having a place for my passengers to

Bruce, which of the two options is cheaper though, as far as swapping to 1.8 or working on th 1.5? and which one would yield the most benefit economically.'96 LX baby

not sure of the cost of doing the work to a 1.5 but the there is a place that will swap a 1.8 into your car for 2 grand or less including parts.. of course you could do it yourself for much cheaper.. just make sure you get an entire list from bruce on what you need.... when i do mine i'm taking it a little farther and replace all engine mounts with mazda speed ones and replacing my trans and a few other things i think bruce didn't do... but if you do it that way it will probably be about the same cost for a little less power but you can then build that engine much easier to a much higher standerd and possibly also have a younger engineIn the Garage

yeah , I changed the front engine mount, I filled the rear engine mount with polyurethane and filled the tranny drivers side mount with polyurethane. I need a passenger mount though. I think I iwll order the Mazda speed unit.
When you rev my motor it does not move at all.. I mean the motor in the cabin.. It does not rock back and forth.
After numerous conversations with people, I was assured that the BP internals are really strong. so I didn't mother to pull the motor apart or anything.
either some forged pistons or some miata 9.5:1 pistons will make there way in the car at a latter date, after turbo and so forth.

uhhhh which is cheaper, 1.5 rebuild or 1.8 swap
Well I would have to say I don't know.
I know the 1.8 swap cost me approx. $1000 to $1500 dollars maybe less. I refused to keep track of the money to be honest so I wouldn't get upset. I could add it up but I don't really want to.
the 1.5 swap could run a bit more, if you are not doing the work yourself. (as far as pulling out the motor and taking it apart) If you are doing everything yourself and just takeing parts to the machine shop then it could run you about what I paid.
OK , I was just looking this up in the chilton.. so you can use these stock figures to figure what you would do with the 1.5L
compression ratio = 9.4:1
Bore X stroke =75.3 x 83.6mm
Bore X stroke (B6)= 78.0 x 83.6mm **
