    Aftermarket Radio Illumination Connector

I am getting ready to install an Alpine CDA-9827 and it has a wire to connect to the instrument cluster illumination lead to "allow the backlighting of the CDA-9827 to dim whenever the vehicle's lights are turned on." I am wondering whether I am supposed to tap the lead before or after the dimmer switch?

    Thanks for the help.
If you can't differentiate between brake and break, you should go back to school

There's a wire in the stereo wiring harness that does that for you. Check the sticky in the Audio Archives to find out which one it is.
