    KARTBOY shifter

This is not a review. I was unsure on where to post an inquiry.
If there is anyone who has a KARTBOY shifter, please write a review on how you like it or don't like it? Were the instructions precise and how easy was it to install?
Does the stock knob fit or do you need to buy a KARTBOY knob as well?

You can use the OEM shift knob with the Kartboy shifter. Whether or not you use the the Kartboy shifter, IMO, you should install the Kartboy shifter bushings that replace the OEM bushing on the extension bar. This mod will eliminate play and looseness in the stick and make shifting more precise. I have them on my car and they made a noticeable and positive difference.

The Kartboy bushings are made from polyurethane. Maz1.8T on this Forum has just started manufacturing equivalent bushings made from nylon (nyloil) and you might want to look into those as an alternative.

Have one on my 1st gen, had it for years, easy as pie to install. Takes longer to jack the car up

I also recommend the bushings Maz1.8T is offering. I have them, well worth it.

Yeah, the Kartboy is a nice shifter. Shifts feel lovely and it sits much lower than stock. Just as Darryl said, installation is a breeze...mine didn't even come with instructions. OEM shift knob fit back on just fine. However, you should consider getting a new shift boot as the stock one will be all squished.

Here is a picture of the shifter installed in my 1st gen:

I'm happy because Dima speeds, which makes him happy. He seems to be happy only when speeding, which makes me happy. And when I'm happy people around me are able to live another day. If you are alive right now, you should thank Dima.

How are the kartboy shifter bushings versus the CORKSPORT Bronzeoil Shifter Bushings? Kartboy only uses 2 bushings while corksport replaces 4.

                            Kartboy:
This component replaces the stock shifter mount bushings in late model Mazda Protege Vehicles, such as the MP3 and Protege5. While this product will not change the geometry of the shifting mechanism, it eliminates excessive play in the system for a more solid gearchange. This product requires jacking of the car and jackstands are mandatory. Can be installed in 30 minutes or less.
                            Corksport:
The kit contains 4 bushings (2 front - 2 rear) to replace the 4 OEM bushings on the control rod. The bushings are machined from a special alloy (Bronzoil) containing oil molecules for self-lubrification (oil is released as bushing wears). Machined to much closer tolerances than the original ones, these bushings will provide more positive shifts and will eliminate sluggishness at the expense of a bit more vibration on the shift lever. Another key advantage is the self-lubrication that provides year-round reliability.
