i have done an mx-6 seat conversion. this required a custom frame to be fabricated using the mounting feet from the stock seat rail and welding it to the seat rail of the mx-6. i'll post a few pics as soon as i can upload them to my host.
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

Mx3 seats will bolt on to the rails drop you 3 inches and give u alot better support..

You will need to get the MX3 seat rails with the seats. They *will* bolt onto the Protege rails, but they will lean inwards.

heh, the old man listened to me . yes indeed, there are apparently 2 designs to the mx-3 seats, and the one design is incredible... designed by recaro, comfortable as **** (very firm and supportive. as well, the seats have better lateral supporting than the stock protege seats. mx-3 recaro seats will give you the feel of a 3 inch drop by basically having a deeper/shallower seat design. i feel like when i drive my car, it's lowered, and infact, the only difference is the seat. these seats will NOT bolt into the 323 with out a noticeable inward lean (in other words you feel and see the lean). the only place to actually get these seats is a junkyard, and if you go looking for these seats, make sure seat rails are fully operational and intact, eitherwise, their not worth your while.

I may have listened, but I had to try it myself just to keep you honest ! The real difference between MX3 rails and Protege rails is in the outside seat rail. The inside rails of both cars are virtually identical and are the same height. However, the outside Protege rail is ~1.5" taller than the outside MX3 rail, which causes the Recaro-style MX3 seat to lean inward when using the Protege rails.

Can someone show me any info regarding Recaro's involvement in the design of these seats? I've never found any.

i believe that the seats were sourced out to recaro, not unlike the nardi wheels in the miatas and the sparco shift knob in the msp etc...

So, besides the MX-3 seats, has anyone gotten any other seats to bolt in as a direct swap? I looked at a few sets of MX-3 seats and I just did'nt like the 1 piece design. They reminded me of those plastic seats made by JAZ for drag racing. I'm looking for some sporty looks but I'd like a set with the bucket adjustment, strong side bolsters, and adjustable lumbar support. Does anyone have any liks to pictures of thares?

i have a seat of Protege GT seats.

And this is my mx-6 seat swap. a bit of custom work went into making these fit.

like a custom bracket for the seat rails

and then cutting the stock feet off of the mx-6 brackets so that the custom bracket made the seats sit flat.

I then welded the frame to the seat rails.

I had a set of those seats already pulld out this weekend and left them behind because the frame was broken on the drivers side one. The front right of the seat was broken and gooseing the pedal would surely have put me in the back seat upside down.
I'm glad now that I didn't bring them home. That is way more than what I am willing to do just to get a new set of seats. Mad propps to you and yours though. They look killer in your ride. Those GT seat you've got sure do look nice. Wish I lived closer so I could take them off your hands. Shipping would probably make it to expensive to send em' down here.

I like the Mx6 Seats... i think thats the best seat conversion ever. But Mx3 Seats are easier and maybe cheaperin price after the installation.

Does anyone have any pictures or links to the diferent MX3 seats? I'm not sure which MX-3 seats I've already seen and want to know if what I saw is what you all are talking abount or if I should keep looking for MX-3's untill I find the ones your talking about. Are the recaro designed seats rare or generally common among MX3's? If it comes to the point where I must do any welding or fabrication I'm thinking a set of 6 way power adjustables from a Beemer or something would be nice.
Those fancy butt warmers would be cool..er warm
