    side speaker problems

i recently got 4 6 1/2 side speakers (good stuff too) from my friend, they are brand new stuff. i installed them in the rear perfectly. but im having problems with the side.

first off are they any how to article to correctly removed the side panels. i got everything out in not a pretty manner. one thing major is i could not get the manual window lever. If i take that out im set from removing the panel.

another problem. i really want to keep these nice speakers but when i put them in, magnet hit the windows. does anybody have suggestions on maybe how i can mount these without hitting the windows? I need all the help i can get.

Thanks for cablemirc for all the help he gave me on installing my head unit.

for the speakes, but a mounting ring out of 1/2"mdf and mount the speakers to the ring and the ring to the door, that should help with the shallow mounting. usually manual windows have a pin in them. get a thin show rag and wrap it around the lever to where you are holding it up on each side with both ends, but the top part of the lever is still showing, then do a see saw pull on it, first pulling up one side, then the other. if this doesn't work, you might have to try changing the angle you are holding the rag b/c the pin might have spun already. or you can go buy the tool that does it from walmart i think.

I'm not 100% sure about proteges but another mazda car...the miata, the manual window cranks had a pin on them that looked something like a rounded "U". I could use something like a credit card and hit both sides of the U with it and it'd pop right off. Be a little careful though cause it'll fly.

I hate the short nose crankshaft. It took my car away from me.

here's a trick to gettting the clip out from behind the crank from a buddy of mine in a body shop.

Using an old rag wrap it basically around the shaft for the crank behind the trim piece of the handle. Now just pull down on one end while still maintaining the wrap. Basically as the rag rotates around it gets caught on one of the exposed ends of the clip and then just pulls it out without any damage. Additionally the rag traps the clip so it does not go flying.

          Did that make any sense?

Where did you get the spacer ring? Did you make it or buy it? Scosche has an adapter ring for 93-96 MX-3, part #SAF7 that will mount a 5.25. does any one know what size the MX-3's speeker holes are?
