    How much power can the G series take?

    So I am ordering a new clutch for my mx-3 with a bpt swap and a g series tranny. Right now I have a centerforce dual friction in it and I must say it is a piece of ****.. Slips way too much.. apparently theyre only rated for 200 ft lbs of torque at the flywheel.. and Im making like 250. Anyhoo.. I asked for a clutch that is rated for at least 300 ft lbs of torque.. since Im rebuilding the motor over the winter to take a little more boost.. at least enough to make 250 whp and 250 tq.. The guy apparently said that the transmission will not take that kind of power but I dont think hes right.
    Can anyone tell me what a g series tranny is actually good for power wise? I know there has got to be some people out there dragging with these gearboxes..

    The only trouble i had with mine was the side gear in the differentiel that worn out, other then that i never had anything to do on the transmission, one of my friend has a gtr in his escort and never had any trouble at all. It all depends on how you drive the car. One wheel spinning for smoke shows kills the diff that all. For the centerforce clutch don't worry a your not alone many of us did that mistake.

      From what i recall as long as you don't powershift and use good fluid, etc. it'll take 400 hp if need be!

          afaik, pat never blew a tranny... so they can take a beating.

            James is still running strong (330 whp) with the stock G seies tranny on his T3/t4 afaik.
            The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

              I think he did. he had 2 trannies that were out of commission. i think one of thm at least he blew.

                one was because they got the speedo gear stuck in it and destroyed the casing trying to take it apart. i have one of the other ones, there's nothing wrong with it. i wouldn't be surprised if he damaged the original 200+k tranny when he blew his bpt apart.
