    4 6X9's???

i want out to the casino a few weeks ago and there was a very nice, very clean, **** i forget what it was, an old muscle car. it was a buick i think. anyways he had 4 6X9's in the rear , i was wondering if this gives you any better sound than you would get with 2? ive been tossing around the idea of doing this for my 1g but i dunno if its any good. also what kind would i use.

if you're going to anything to the rear, put in a set of 8's, and a decent set of regular speakers. but focus your money on a nice set of front components i made the mistake of putting in really nice 6x9's in the rear deck of my car when i got it, and left the factory fronts it wasn't till i installed a nice set of components up front that i realized what i had been missing:p: now i don't even have any 6x9's in the rear deck you want most all your sound except the bass coming from the front. bass is non directional in a car, so putting the 8's on the rear deck will get you some added bump, and a lot more mid range

ya, its not a bad idea to have nice speakers in the rear but 6x9s would require some modification to our 1g.

i looked up on crutchfield what speakers would be applicable to our cars without too much modification.

i got some real killer 6.5" in the rear and some crappy 5.25" in the front cause they were the only ones that were shallow enough to fit in the doors.

whatever you do, just dont let the HU power the speakers. wuts the point of buying nice speakers if you cant utilize them at 100% of their potential?

and what blue ledz says about front speakers is true. i also have been enlightened.

It makes no sense in having a lot of speakers in the rear when it is only good for rear fill. Do what Blue suggested for optimum sound quality. Otherwise, your passengers will get better sound from the back and love you for it while you are hearing every thing from behind.

the infiniti's I got are very clear all around. Of course, I don't have anything but the stock set up to compare to, but I am very happy with my sound, now.

here is what you need to look at, do you want to listen to your music like you were at a concert to where all the sound is in front while your headbanging/maushing/jumping up and down/ or whatever you do at a concert, or you do you want the sound to be all around you like in a surround sound system??? If you want the concert sound, you don't need to spend any money on the rear speakers at all unless you always have rear passangers, this way you can put what would have been wasted money into a good set of components up front and a sub in the rear. if you want a surround setup like in your home, then you will need speakers in the rear. those are the choices you need to make. concert sound, or surround sound.

think about it this way, PROPORTIONS! think about the displacement of where you want the sound coming from! throwing that kind of set up in your car would just require more speakers up front.. ie, pointless. honestly, a really nice set of rear speakers, nice set of components, head unit with 3 amp preouts, and a four channel amp will do you great wonders. figure on something 50 to 60 watts per channel for amps, and you're fine. in my car, you can TELL the difference 27 constant watts and 50 constant watts makes. the sound is clearer, cleaner, and trust me, the amp will make the difference. i've seen losts of demo cars back when we used to go to the auto shows here in philly, and i remember, there was this one truck that was jacked up, serious power setup, ran something like 40 internally mounted subs, and 30 externally mounted subs, crazy as hell. at anyrate, glad to see you've picked up a bit of information.. glad to see some of us have rubbed off on you (though i hope it's not from me)

i think ill just get some decent 6 1/2's front and back and anp the hell out of them. then ill get an 8 in the trunk.

not that i doubt the awesome power edesigns is throwing into their 8 inch sub or anything, and i believe it's awesome that you could seriously beat the hell out of that thing, save your ****in money . 2 k series 10 inch or 12 inch subs with an amp will do you good, or ****, a single 10 or 12 would do you some great justice if you just want bass without losing all that room.

well one eight can play on the same field as 2 k subs, so it would cost the same, but take up much less room than the 2 10's or 12's. plus you get to say, yeah, i've got an 8!!!

good point. didn't look at it that way, aside from the fact you'd have to custom build your own box for this sub... so either it's late nights with bryan trying to figure your **** out, or get educated on box building dynamics . i wouldn't doubt the power of the eight, i'm just too traditional as far as sub setups. i have been proven wrong, i lend my appology
