Hooray, I raced a neon....

Holy crap I am so bored right now, but guess what!? About a week ago I got to a race a neon, Woohoo. No one ever wants to race me , except on explorer that tried to kill me, and the neon. So here's my story...

It was a nice foggy day in Monterey, I and my younger brother of 13 were taking a leisurely cruise to the place I call home. It was so pleasant, the agonizing drone of my exhaust, bouncing over pebbles in my severely stiff suspension, who could ask for a nicer drive. As we cruised along I began to notice a hideously purple destroyer of my serenity, "behold" I stated "thine purple Neon approaches." That rocket of neon must have been piloted by a master, the way he swerved effortlessly through traffic, and almost carresed the guard-rail. As he approached, I decided to show him that this type of driving in my house doesn't go without consequence. As he tailgated awaiting his window of opportunity I patiently waited to downshift into 2nd gear. My brother stared at the beast with unwaivering discipline, as he watched and listened for the instant the neon would try his pass. It happened, all so suddenly, it was like; whaaaaa, and then, whooom, and whoosh, and it was over so quickly. We remained truimphant, this was our house, and no neon was going to disrespect my Protege .

After that we pulled to a light and raced, I was a good car length at the end of first... Oh well, at least I got to race someone besides my friend with his turbocharged 260Z, who always blows my doors off, even before his turbo

ha, nice murder. I hate neons.....unless your a female you really shouldnt get within 10 feet of one....Still the r/t and the srt/4 are nice versions but still....your driving a f***ing dodge neon. Yeah i seriously HATE people who swerve in and out of traffic like that...this kid wanted to race me once in his 95 civic ex (2 door), also beat to **** and back. So hes like....YO DAWG HEAD TO PARKWAY SOUTH.....so im like....ok wtf? so i follow him.....im right behind him on the ramp and we both gun it when it straightens out and i got COMPLETELY cut off by some beige accord and i was completely stuck for over 45 seconds.....and he just kept going...i saw him zig zagging in and out of cars and like.....him cutting the wheel so hard his back wheel slides a bit when he straightened out.......and the next day at school he was like...bro i smoked you.....and i was just like......ARE YOU F***ING RETARTED...i got off at the first exit and the kid in the car with him told me he kept telling him, "dude he got cut off the minute we got on the parkway and he just got off at the first exit".....that moron was speeding and zig zagging for a few MILES..........drive carefully everyone......

Only later did I find out the kids got some serious mental issues....and doesnt have many friends...hah whatever

Too make matters worse, it was a purple neon with pink badges , driven by a dude... hmmm, but at least I got a race

People can be crazy when it comes to competition like your crazy honda homie lol... Funny shiat though, er until someone gets hurt anyway. Being the idiot I was when I was 18 living in San Diego with my ex I raced some dude in a 5.0 mustang with my Camaro. Both of us pulled up to a red light, on a big three lane street. I thought my camaro was the shizzle with it's 380hp ZZ4 sm block, and so I thought I would smack this dude. Anyway, it's a 35mph zone at about 6:00P, light turned green and we both smoked the crap outta the tires, we were totally even all the way until about 100mph (in a fu**ing 35mph zone). My chick was scared ****less, and was hiding almost under the dash mwahahaha, so being a ****head 18yr old with a too big ego I was determined to pull on this guy. I got to 135 and just barely started pulling, then "HOLY ^&*#, this black honda accord pulled out of a side road right in front of me. I swerved got squirelly at over 100mph and damn near at **** and died... so, now 5yrs later I don't get very competitive anymore , it's not worth the risk...

Neons do come in some strange colors. Every time I've raced my friends SOHC I've lost , Only by a car or so but he still pulls me every time.

See, even though your car is still a neon Srad, a SRT-4 is still a genuinely fast f'n car, so this would be considered a double-standard, if you have any questions ask my girlfriend... she can tell you alllll about it. It's okay because you have an escort too

BTW someone must have put a "race me" sticker my rear bumper, because today I raced a guy in a Del Sol... I never knew the aftermarket intakes on those things were so freakin loud, it was almost as loud as his exhaust . It was me and my bro in the car (about 360lbs) I pulled, but not by a lot, got him off the line and slowly widened the gap. It was strange because he shifted before me in every gear, I thought those honda's wound-out real high. He was cool though, thumbs up and such, no sore loser crap.

Yeah srad2drag youve got the GOOD neon....this kid that works at my shop has a black srt-4....no real work done to it but hes got a boost controller.....this kid is nuts....i took a ride with him once and he actually passed someone on the other side of the road because they were slowing down for a yellow light......ontop of speeding....and him running reds if its safe daily....in all seriousness he must run at least 3-4 red lights a day.....not just gunning it at the last minute....IF he stops and theres no cars coming hel just go...and since his dads a cop he doesnt have much to worry about....

I wish people would try to race me more often, but they don't. Here's some of my latest though:

Driving to get pizza I'm on a highway-esk road, 2 lanes each way with a median, and occasional stop lights. This time I was with 2 of my friends...speed limit is 40 but I was doing 50-55 which is pretty easy. Well we caught up to this guy in his totally awsome Malibu Maxx V6, purple with the windows down(A/C broke already?)a reggae looking guy driving it. He speeds up, I speed up, then at about 60 he guns it. I downshift and the race is on. We got up to about 110, and I honestly stayed even with him, then he gave up.

One of my friends has a '93-'95 Civic coupe, lowered, steel wheels, exhaust and intake. Rides like a school bus...anyway I raced him before from a stop and beat him by 2 or 3 cat lengths. Well we were going to this other guy's house(we were actually 4 cars, me and him, then my other 2 friends in a Turbo Talon, and the guy's house we were headed to in a '86-'87 Celica(he completely screwed up his airflow meter to the point where the car was running hot because it was so lean, and when I tried to tune it it wouldn't get much better and the CEL came on, luckily he had another one at home that he didn't mess with)). The civic was in the lead, and I was second. On I-40(64) here in St. Louis, there's like a 5 or more mile straight...Well we were going about 70, I sped up to the civic, and we raced from there. He nudged on me right at the start because he downshifted to 3rd, I was in 4th, and being a Honda he was completely in the power band. At about 85 I just crept by him, at 100 I was ahead of him, and at 120 I was about 2 carlengths ahead of him.

On the way back I was solo and tried a 130mph run(as is the top speed Road and Track got for the car back then. I was sure I could do even better because of the intake and exhaust(actually the exhaust might be hurting me), but for some reason I only got up to 125(the straight is completely flat and level too) then the car just kinda sat there not accelerating. Though if since I have marginally bigger tires(2.3%) that makes it like 126 something. Still dissapointed...
