Where to next, more power & still reliable?

I have a 93 Escort GTX, I'm run 10psi right now and I want more power but I don't want to start breaking stuff. Any suggestions?

    My setup.
stock EGT wire harness and ECU
    3" downpipe
    3" exhaust no cat
    3" Muffler
    FMIC
    waldro 255 fuel pump
    vortech FMU 6-1 ratio
    NGK wires- on order!
Ngk race plugs (yellow box)-don't remember how cold
    Stage 3 clutch
    Royal Purple oil-Great stuff
    Grounding system
    HKS mushroom filter
    turbo timer
SAFC-II -not tuned yet, TPS wire issues.

You need to use a MAP sensor or a 4 wire TPS for your SAFC

Are you running the stock EGT injectors?

I'd say you can turn the boost up to 12-15 psi (thats the limit of the VJ20) but make sure you're giving her enough fuel.

If you still want more power - get better engine mangement. Once you have a standalone + larger injectors, slap on a bigger turbo.

That's the upgrade path most people follow If tuned well, the BP will handle 300+whp

I'm running the GTX injectors (super rich), 160miles on a full tank. What car can I get the 4 wire TPS from. And how far will the SAFC take me. All of my friends are starting to switch over to Megasquirt.

It is probably too rich with the GTX injectors because you are running an FMU as well ... you don't need and FMU to run 10 psi on the VJ20 and 330ccs

The 4 wire TPS comes from either a GTX or an auto BP-powered protege (LX in the US).

The SAFC takes you about 10-15% on either side of the fuel delivery you have now, and not too much more. It is rather limited and a full standalone is a far better choice.

If I take out the FMU, I won't have to worry about leaning out? How would I wire up the 4 wire TPS since my harness is a 3 wire? My friend said to mount it on the other side of the throttle body and the run the throttle postion signal to the SAFC. Does that make sense to you? Whst engine management are you running?

Go with a real engine managment, bigger injestors and the CS turbo upgrade.

Haltechs seem very popular with the BP-t crowd.

never been to a strip club I guess.

So long as you do alot of tuning, and apply the proper mods to safely add boost, that is the quickest and probably cheapest way to get more power from your current setup.
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

unless you upgrade the turbo, you should be fine with a GTX or NA ECU and upping the boost a little.

EDIT: be careful with the timing on the NA ECU ... it is more advanced than the GTX one and you might run into detonation issues.

As for the TPS, just get a throttle body that has a 4 wire on there ... match 3 of the wires to your existing harness and bring the extra one and attach it to the 5v reference going to the VAF.

Just follow the wiring schematics in the mazda shop manual.
