    perfomance chips

hey whats up everyone, im new to club protege but i've been reading lost of post and stuff and its really awesome... i had a question that i was wondering if someone could help me with... whats up with these chips or chip like things you can get to basically trick your cars computer into thinking the air is colder or something... things like this......

This simple, yet effective modification will allow you to boost the power output of your vehicle's engine, without sacrificing reliability or comfort. It consists of a small electronic device (Timing Advance Resistor) that will be inserted between your cars IAT SENSOR. This is also known as a 'piggy back' device as it is external to the main processing unit (the ECU). You will feel the gain instantly, no fooling around or expensive tuning necessary. This unit will work with all vehicles equipped with electronic fuel injection. 99% of cars manufactures after 1990 are equipped with electronic fuel injection.

    -or-

This mod will modify your stock ECU with a zoom performance chip. This mod connects to the car's ECU by replacing the Intake Airflow Temperature (IAT) Sensor. Once the module is installed, the ECU will read that the air coming in through the intake is cold air; think of it as a "default" setting on the ECU. When the ECU reads this, it leans out the air/fuel mixture-in other words, it will take in more air, and then add more fuel to compensate for the extra air coming in, thus, producing more power and advancing timing 1 to 2 degrees.

Just not sure if its something that would be too good for the car or not and i don't want to mess anything up... wanted some other opinoins. thanks

not sure about the first product... but hte things tha plug into your ECU do work... not sure how well on our cars but my dad just bought one for our expedition and it worked really well... the only thing is that it said it would help with its MPG but in fact it's declined about .5mpg's I think its just becuase its putting more fuel in with the air...
