    The New eclipse.....

I wasn't in my protege, I was in my blazer (4.3L vortec with intake lol)

Anyhow, I wasnt very impressed with the new eclipses. My blazer isnt *to* slow, but it isnt fast either. So I was on my way home from work, and I seen one, they look like spaceships, ugly as ****. He was just cruising around. We both ran into a stop light together and I opened my window and yelled, "is that thing fast?" He said "Yea it's ok, wanna go?" "SURE" Red.......green, I stomp on it, and my 250 ft lbs and rwd propel me forward and into about 1 car lead, he starts catching me as I finish 2nd gear. Then he passed me, and put about 4 cars on me before we shut it down. Got up to about 85. Like I said, Im not impressed with them at all...270 hp arent they? Must weight like 4000lbs.

actually the 4-cyl version is rated at 162HP and should weight about 3400lbs

ans the 6-cyl version is rated at 263HP and should weight about 3600lbs

Its more of a touring car than anything else, nothing in common with 1st and 2nd gens !!!

Holy crap, the ralliart one kicks ass. Looks alot lighter than say 4000 pounds, still a bit big for my tastes.

Indeed the Ralliart is suppose to use the EVO's 4G63 and be AWD with a lighter body !!! can't wait till it comes out

lol, I sat in one and it made me feel sick... the windsheild and dash suck @ the angles they are at IMO.

            That ralliart is badass.

My friends got a 94 blazer with the 4.3 Votech and cone filter and my 1.8 auto protege used to beat him on many occasions, so i hope you have the newer body style, otherwise the eclipses really have problems

whats with all the fwd V6 "sports" cars, the balance is god awful, something like 65/35 (okay, maybe not that but, but you get my drift)

If you have to build a FWD to any specs, I'd like to see 65/35 more than I'd like to see 50/50...

Is this due the fact that more weight will be over the front wheels? I don't think 65/35 is bad all the time, I think just in this case it is because the entire car is so heavy.

I know why it ends up 65/35, IMO its stupid, just make it rwd, mount the tranny back further and wha-bam, balance.

A FWD's biggest problem is putting power down. Moving the weight distribution over the front wheels, while keeping the CG as low as possible fixes that. Build the suspension around that design philosophy and stagger the tires and all should be well...

it's never going to power oversteer, but it'll be better than the current crop of cars.

so i guess its the second half of your post that they aren't doing, which leads to cars with massive understeer that still cant get the power to the ground.
