need Help with Tranny.

ok.. Im replacing my automatic transmission by myself, the problem is that i cant get the "NEW ONE" all the way in. Theres a 1 inch gap between the engine and the tranny,thats how far it goes i just can't push it in anymore like if there was something stopping it. Do you think that i have to rotate the flywheel so that the "gear looking metals" that stick out of the inside of the tranny could slide in? or what do you think its wrong/ should do?
that's the only thing thats stopping me from finishing it.

ok you have to spin the tranny so that the spines meet up. it is not fun, it ususally takes one person up top and one person below to get this right. the person uptop gets the job of holding the tranny and pushing it in, while the guy on the bottom tries to line stuff up.

If you are swapping the motor, the easiest way is to remove the engine in the first place then bolt the tranny to it, then put it all back in.

But since you are just replacing the tranny thats a different story. Thats going to be tough like Brock said. Get a couple of friends to help is about the only way.
