Summer Alloys Off; Winter Steels On

I just removed my summer alloys and replaced them with my winter steels. The alloys go on in early April and come off in November. Not a big deal and I wouldn't even mention it if my intention wasn't to remind some of you to always use spark plug anti-seize on the wheel hubs and mounting surfaces. This will prevent the alloy wheels from "sticking" or "bonding" to the steel hubs, a condition that often results from the nature of the interface between the dissimilar metals. Since I've been running my alloys I've used anti-seize and I've never had a removal problem. I use the Permatex brand available at PEP Boys but of course any brand will do the job.

Good idea. I've had wheels get stuck before. What about using this on brake disc's? Obviously not on the disc surface, but on the back side mounting surface and in the bolt holes? I've had those get stuck before too.

        Just did so!
I actually had a problem getting my steelies off, they stuck to the hub and required a few hits before letting go, hopefully the anti-seze makes sure it doesnt happen anymore.

That also sounds like a good idea. I'll have to try that myself.

Although I didn't specifically mention it, I also use anti-seize on my steels mounting surface and likewise have never had a problem removing those either.
