    GTX Wiring Questions

I am currently in the process of researching the possibility of swapping a BPT into my protege. I now know that as far as the motor going into the engine bay this will be almost a direct fit. I do however have a few questions about the wiring that you guys will be able to help me out with.

The plan is to get an entire GTX front clip so that I will be able to have all of the wiring and sensors needed to convert over to OBD1. It is my understanding that the ECU will have 2 clips that will plug into it. The main one going out to the engine bay (I'll be able to leave this for the most part untouched, other then lengthing it for LHD) and the other one is to interface with the guage cluster and ignition. The second clip i will have to rearange the wires to connect to the proper places on the ecu for it to work properly

Am I getting the idea behind this correct? Is this the easiest way to go about having this work? Does anyone have the ECU pinouts for the 2nd gen BP's (the gtx ones are posted here allready) any tips/information/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I thought there were crazy differences between the various models of second gens for wiring?? Or are the ECU pin outs the same, but other **** is different.

Well, it isn't that one connector goes to the enginge and the other to the dash. The are all intertwined. I have both american lx wiring diagrams and gtx diagrams if you want them. The main person I know of to contact would be project323, but I don't think he has been active in awhile as he sold his gtx'ed second gen.

I keep seeing people talking about an LHD conversion for the harness, or about needing to lengthen the harness. I've got an RHD harness in my LHD escort, and absolutely no modifications were necessary. I don't know if there's a major difference between the ford and mazda bodies, other than the hole in the firewall of the ford being about an inch larger in diameter than the mazda. If there is a huge difference I've never heard of it.

But I'd say work on getting the wiring schematic right first before worrying about making it longer, especially if there's no need to.

My bp26 ecu is a RHD and it went right into my USDM lx. Don't know if that means much to you but just figured Id through that out there.
