    Civic Radiator Effecient enough? UPDATED!!!!!!!

Hey guys, as you know I've been posting alot but hey... what can I say... its Christmas! ^^ haha

Any how I just need to know your thoughts on the quality of this cheapo ebay radiator and if its effecient enough to support our 1.8l engines with a t3 strapped on.

Heres a link of one of the manys found on ebay:

Here is a close estimate of both radiators.
    Stock EGT
27x18.75x1 with more or less 1.5 inlets and outlets

    Ebay Civic Radiator
15.25x18.75x2 with 1" inlet and outlets difference being about 1/2 inch.

I plan on mounting it front right away from all that heat dispersed by the exhaust and turbine itself. One thing that concerns me is that fact that the inlet and outlet of the civic radiator is noticably smaller compared to that of our stock rad. Would this effect coolant flow? Is it worth it? All opinions are greatly appreciated even some negs as so I can see outside the box as well.

    Thanks again

Okay after thinking about it I think I came to a solution to maintain equal flow in and out. At first I was thinking just to cut off the stock inlets and outlets and reweld them to the civic rad but after looking at the civic its obvious there isn't enough space to weld the stock inlet/outlet where the og ones are. So since the rad is 2"s rather than 1 like the stock, I'm thinking to reweld the stock or custom inlet/outlet to the top, for inlet, and bottom, for outlet. I'm thinking as long as there are no restrictions and coolant can still flow in and out with the probs I should have no probs right? Let me know yours thoughts. Obviously going to cost more than I'd hope but oh well. Merry Christmas to me.

    Thanks

Isn't the one I posted dual core or is it single? Honestly if you ask me all the ebay rad seem the same? Can you point me towards the one your speaking of? I might have missed it.

      Thanks

I got a dual core racing rad (1/2 sized) civic one off of ebay for my MX-3.

Wasnt too much and should flow well. I bought a 2360cfm Spal fan and mounted it to it for optimum flow. Mine maybe half sized, but I'll cool better than any stock unit anyday.

lol, since I'll be running a t3 close to a bar, I figure I need some extra flow.

Lol 2360... that can pretty much push your face in your head lol. What size did you choose? That thing must be loud mine is already loud as is. Did you make a shroud? Got any pics?

I am still in the process of building the car, so I dunno how loud it is yet

I got a 16in fan, and the civic rad is ~15.5 in wide, so the holes on the sides lined up with the tabs on the sides of the rad. I just drilled some holes, and got some bolts from home depot. The fan is 1/4 in wider on each side, and about an inch short on the top and bottom.... essentially the fan is the size of the radiator.

I'll get pics tonite if I can find my card reader.

Lol I see. What did you do about the inlet and outlet of the civic rad since it is smaller than whats required to fit the bp motor? Are you just going to use an adapter?

lol, I was going to either go the adaptor route, or I was going to possibly try to stretch one of the honda ones over the BP coolant neck. If I split it oh well, I'll return it.

Lol, when I get mine I'm going to calculate fitment first. Then afterwards if space permits, I'm going to take it to a shop and have them cut off the og inlet/outlet and reweld larger ones on both bottom and top and both coming from an angle which the ogs pointed at. Wonder how much that would cost me... if its more than 50 which I believe it might be I'll just try using an adapter first. If its obvious that its not cooling very well than I'll just do what I planned.

I am sure that any decent shop should be able to rework the endtanks on the radiator just like any intercooler.

I'll probably just end up connecting 2 universal hoses in the middle to solve the issue the easiest.

That would also be the cheapest which is why I too will be doing that. When do you expect your car to be up and running? If I finish mine which is early next year I'll let you know its capabilities.

lol, I have been building mine since march. Between school, social life, wh0ring here, and work its a slow process.

The thread with alot of the pics and info is above the pic in my sig.

I took an MX-3 GS, dumped the v6, and swapped in a BPT. Then sold the GTX turbo for a T3 setup so I can push a bar and not worry about the turbo at all.

Ive had no problems with my stock escort one. Whats the need for a civic one?
