My setup:
Gtx swap
fmic
3" exhaust
NA escort gt wire harness and ecu.
10 psi of boost
NGk race spark plugs
I have my swap done for awhile, the only problem is that it ran really rich. Example 150 miles on a full tank of gas. I've taken my car down to the local track, witch is an 8th of a mile long and killed a many Hondas. My best time to date is 9.2 at 82 mph and a reaction time of 0.383. I take pretty good car of my engine. Anyway the other night, my friend and where riding around in my car. He was like what’s all this big noise that you talk about? Is your car really fast, and I know you've put some money into it. My friend so happens to be car salesman for Nissan. And always talks about how fast the new Z is. And that I should quit wasting my money on an Escort and come down and trade it in. F that! This is where it get weird. There is about a quarter of a mile strip in front of my friends apartment. May I had that it was pretty cold out also. So, I said hold on. I launched the that at stop, and went balls out down the street. I got up to about 80 I think and then slowed down and looked over at my friend and he could say a word. He was speechless. I turned around for a second pass, I hit it again. The car is pulling I think I was in 3rd going into 4th, with the pedal to the floor. And the car back fires or something. Like a ppp...pop sound. I let off the gas and the car just dies. Like it stalled out. Damn! I roll to the side of the road and try to start the car. It turns over but it won't start. I leave the car there for the night. The next morning I replace the spark plugs. They didn't look to good. I think I fouled them out. But what really scared me was that the number 1 plug was smashed. That’s when I started to panic. With the new plugs in I attempted to start the car, nothing. I tired again, nothing. Its still turning over but just wont start. The third time it kind of start and then died. I started checking everything. Come to find out my timing belt was loose, it look like it had slipped or jumped a tooth or something. The belt wasn't tight like is supposed to be. It had some slack in it. Another friend told me that I would have to reset my timing, and cams back to Top Dead Center. And I should be ok. Is my engine toast, or did I bend a rod or chipped my number 1 piston? Any suggestions?
I'll have pics of the plugs if looking at them would help.
