I might be a new member of the zoom zoom boom club?

    My setup:

    Gtx swap
    fmic
    3" exhaust
NA escort gt wire harness and ecu.
    10 psi of boost
    NGk race spark plugs

I have my swap done for awhile, the only problem is that it ran really rich. Example 150 miles on a full tank of gas. I've taken my car down to the local track, witch is an 8th of a mile long and killed a many Hondas. My best time to date is 9.2 at 82 mph and a reaction time of 0.383. I take pretty good car of my engine. Anyway the other night, my friend and where riding around in my car. He was like what’s all this big noise that you talk about? Is your car really fast, and I know you've put some money into it. My friend so happens to be car salesman for Nissan. And always talks about how fast the new Z is. And that I should quit wasting my money on an Escort and come down and trade it in. F that! This is where it get weird. There is about a quarter of a mile strip in front of my friends apartment. May I had that it was pretty cold out also. So, I said hold on. I launched the that at stop, and went balls out down the street. I got up to about 80 I think and then slowed down and looked over at my friend and he could say a word. He was speechless. I turned around for a second pass, I hit it again. The car is pulling I think I was in 3rd going into 4th, with the pedal to the floor. And the car back fires or something. Like a ppp...pop sound. I let off the gas and the car just dies. Like it stalled out. Damn! I roll to the side of the road and try to start the car. It turns over but it won't start. I leave the car there for the night. The next morning I replace the spark plugs. They didn't look to good. I think I fouled them out. But what really scared me was that the number 1 plug was smashed. That’s when I started to panic. With the new plugs in I attempted to start the car, nothing. I tired again, nothing. Its still turning over but just wont start. The third time it kind of start and then died. I started checking everything. Come to find out my timing belt was loose, it look like it had slipped or jumped a tooth or something. The belt wasn't tight like is supposed to be. It had some slack in it. Another friend told me that I would have to reset my timing, and cams back to Top Dead Center. And I should be ok. Is my engine toast, or did I bend a rod or chipped my number 1 piston? Any suggestions?

I'll have pics of the plugs if looking at them would help.

Hmmmm .... the not turning over and not starting thing doesn't sound so good ... it could be the timing belt.

What worries me is that you have areally open exhaust and intake and are running on the NA ECU on a cold night. You should be seeing about 15 psi+ due to creep with no boost controller. The NA ECU has more advanced timing maps than the GTX one. Also note that with the NA ECU you are running really rich at idle and part throttle, but not at 15 psi with 330cc injectors - so don't think of it as a safety margin. Your busted plug means it detonated but it doesn't neccessarily mean the motor is toast.

Take a flashlight and peek inside the sparkplug hole .... any part of the piston missing? Def adjust your iming belt. If it still runs like ass (oil burning, rough, etc) then you probably damaged the piston and in that case take the head off the motor and go from there.

Once this is done, get something better for management than the NA ECU - at the very least a GTX ECU.

Hope this helps and best of luck

It does turn over, but no start.

I just checked, and the piston looks fine. No peices chiped off.

Timing... like what lex said... if timing is messed up and your belt skipped your car won't start and the engine will turn over. Realign everything and hopefully that fixes your problem.

dfaskldf/slkdj ass! =P I THINK I GOT AHOLD OF SOME INJECTORS! GTX!

Oh and I believe its your timing based on what you told me. Timing belt being lose and all. Careful cuz if your timing is off and you crank it... your valves and pistons could collide and cause some dmg. Set everything to top dead center cams and crank and realign everything with the timing belt. They're should be a mark on everything.

I thought BP's were non interference engines?

You are correct, the wrong timing shouldn't smash valves or dent piston tops. Unless a rod let go.....................

If you blew a charge pipe the car won't hold idle ... so that might be it.

But since you noticed that timing belt is off, do the water pump, timing belt(tensioner and belt) and see what you get.

The worse case scenario is that a rod went ... but it's hard to break a rod on a VJ20.

Also BPs are non intereference so don't worry, you dont have any bent valves.

Yay...! I never knew that... never worry about collisions. Thats a nice design. Learn something new everyday... let us know if you crack the case.

Yeah esp. for retards like me who would set the timing incorrectly
