It is possible this can happen???

Well this past week im very mad with my DX Protege. My car have the following mods:

2" DownPipe whith a magnaflow pipe
    3" CAI System
Advanced Cam gear (Move some degrees like the inition trick)

And lately this cars are beating me:

    Susuki Aerio: http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/N...38/Act/Photos/

    Mirage Coupe:

    Kia Sephia:

I dont know if my car is loosing compresion or is that the DX really sucks, because the miraga coupe and the Sephia had some mods like head work, intake and some downpipe. I would like to hear opinions if it is my car, or the pilot or that is the way the SOHC run??

Because maybe the mods i have are not great to see more HP.

    Any suggestion will be welcome.

Some times my car run very nice, maybe people around me are getting more things to their car and i not putting anything to mine.

But with those mods my car dont lose compression???

I ran all those race in 3rd gear (60mph), we put our car bumper to bumper around 60mph and then we start racing, i feel that 3rd gear of mine very slow i dont feel that my car acelerate very fast compare to 1st and 2nd, and another thing is my clutch is in bad shape and the flywheel to, so that affect my car to.

What type of clutch kit are good for this car??

exedy is a good oem replacement - cheap on eBay too.

Centerforce has had issues with a few people on here, but worked for others.

ACT costs a bit, but is good against holding up to some power

Spec is a bit cheaper than the ACT, and used by alot of the v6 guys for the tq capacity.

what exact pipe are you talking about when you say downpipe? Traditionally, downpipes come off the turbo......

Don't waste money on an ACT clutch with that motor. It won't do you any good. Just get a stock replacement like the exedy.

the suzuki comes with like 144hp stock.

it depends on the mirage. the s model came with a 1.5l sohc(i owned one)but they are light. there was also a 1.8 liter dohc that came in the same years.

As far as that kia goes,i have a buddy at work that owns on. it comes with 135-140 hp stock. his gave my car a run for the money.

i think its your car.dont be discouraged though. talk to sohc1.8t. i met him when he had the 1.8sohc in his car with his custom turbo manifold and all i smelt was dust when we raced.see if he still has the manifold for sale.you can use a t3 or t4 on it.he was useing a t3.

I've owned both an automatic and (currently) a 5 speed B8, and I can atest that the top-end is pretty lacking. The 5 speed is far better than the automatic, but that's not saying much really. Through first and second, you should be able to do a 9 sec or so 0-60 if you know how to drive, and if your motor and clutch are up to the task. This is comparable to many new vehicles of the same class, so I would consider it respectable. However once you get up past 60-70 there's really not much there. Sure you can cruise at 80-100 easily, but don't be in a race to get there. The lesson I've learned from driving a B8, is to keep your races below 60 mph. It's safer, and you'll actually stand a chance.

dx's aren't that slow. mine ran 16.5 stock. check protege club for the 11 page thread that brought all the escort guys over.

Protege_Driver, get a rx-7 vaf. It WILL give a noticeable gain. I had one on my previous dx(among other mods) and a 98 civic si barely pulled on me. I think this was also mentioned in that thread.
