"poping" ebrake handle

everytime i pull up on my e-brake when parked, the handle will go up untill the cable draws tight then pops, then it goes all loose again.

it happens everytime i try and use it, just changed the rear pads

they are drums BTW

cables seem fine, the cars ebrake didnt do this before i switched the pads

springs maybe? new cables? any coments would be appricated thnx

might look at the grabbing mechanism inside the center console of the car. It has a kind of gear system that should grab when the e-brake is pulled all the way up. It might be slipping off of a broken tooth or something. Just my guess.

Other than that, I dunno.
