    Ignition System Upgrades

I would like to add some more spark to the mix in my 1st gen SOHC. I have been looking into the MSD SCI-L ignition. Has anyone looked in to or tried this at all?
Also, I would like to put in a high performance coil. Is the 1st gen colis computer controled or is it the basic + & - connections? i.e. a universal coil will do?
Lastly, What plug wire sets are avalibe? Will a universal set with straight plug boots and non-HEI distributor boots work (remember this IS a SOHC?)

Eh, honestly, I think the stock ignition system will work fine...

Don't expect power gains from any ignition upgrades. You WILL get better throttle response with some decent plugs and wires.

Getting a MSD box is a waste unless you are going turbo or NAWZZ.

Im sure the stock ignition DOES work fine, just like the stock suspension, intake, exhaust and radio. Thats not the reason were all here though.

Adding one part to ANY car is not going to give any performance gains, (unless your bottle feeding) but rather the sum of its parts add up to make a faster, more responsive ride. My thought is that a stronger, more efficent spark would make it possable to open the plug gap a little more and get a better flame front. On its own useless, but add a cooler, denser intake charge (CAI) and a better scavenging exhaust (2" or better) and that wider plug gap and stronger ignition charge could start to make a big difference.
