    6x9's reccomendations

For some strange reason my 6x9's in the back are blown. I took a lot at them and they are disgusting! So now I need to get new ones. I was wondering what name brands you guys would recommend? Should I put two more speakers in the back door panels and in the front ? All my speakers are stock except my audiobahns woofers.

don't bother with the rear speakers right now, replace your front ones since they are stock.

Agreed. I am not using rear speakers currently and you wouldn't be able to tell except that the rear deck is removed revealing two holes where the factory ones. If you are using deck power for the amplification, then you don't need to go with a higher up model from a manufacturer. For example, I hear from members that Infinity Kappa's are really good sounding, but don't sound that loud or lack bass versus the more efficient Reference series. On the flipside, they do sound better when properly powered, but when using deck power (roughly 25 watts RMS), then the Reference series sound better. I am not totally sold on Infinity, but am using them as an example.

Yea, I couldnt tell my back ones were blown until my friends told me all they heard was bass. So if I just get some god reference 6x9's since im going deck powered is good? Has anyone put speakers in the rear doors? Or is that a waste of time too?

i know blue has done it, its actually a good idea if you have rear passangers. infinity reference series are pretty good, i've installed a few 2 way 6X9's and they sounded good, but as misterT has found out, his rear speakers had about a 3 in xmax b/c he had so much bass coming from his subs so the rear deck is a bad place for speakers unless you can seal them off from the trunk. but definiatly replace your front speakers with a set of components first, night/day difference

yeah, i've got components in my rear doors. i used to be the only one of my friend's with a 4 door that ran good, so we always took my car and i don't want to just bombard my rear passengers with a **** ton of bass, so i installed a cheap set of power acoustik components in the rear doors. it was easier to run the wires into the rear doors than the fronts i spent like $50 on the components, and they are more than good enough for rear passengers, and i've got them adjusted so they don't really effect the front sound

Pioneer 6x9s rock. I have em in the rear. The drown my 6.5s in the front. The highs are crystal clear and the bass is clear and deep enough to make people think you actually have a sub in the trunk.

That sounds good because my passengers in the back complain of too much bass. So to sum up get some of those inifinit's for the front and some cheaper components for the rear doors? one more thing, tweeters?

the only thing i've heard about Infinity speakers is that "if you don't listen to Classical all day, don't bother getting Infinity"
                    That's just hear-say from me.

I will probably opt for either Clarions or Kenwoods in my front and back... sadly, my carwill be without kickpanels.

I have the prblem of the rear deck speakers getting torn apart too.
I think they make some that are "closed-back" where the cage is solid.

I replaced all of my speakers with Polk EX3's. Sounds great and I would highly recommend getting components in the fronts as well.

I have Rockford 3way 6x9's in the back, they sound great. I have never heard them distort yet, even running them with an amp. The sound quality and bass are both really good. I have no sub but half the time it feels like I do. They were actually pretty cheap, too, only $130 for the pair.

i can say that from all my use, kenwood, clarion, and pioneer have some of the worst speakers i've heard pioneer being the worst of the 3. granted they are still better than sony, but that's not saying much. i've installed power acoustik speakers that sound as good or better for much less and i've heard great things about infinity, especially their components. don't worry about extra tweeters, if you use components

so I have made up my mind so far to get some good components but not any pioneer kenwood or clarion. Are audiobahns good?
