If only they had taken a 323 and done that they would have been even faster
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

It could have a 400hp motor and a suspension comparable to a Lotus but.......It's still a friggen Kia. nuff said.

Just accept the facts and suck it up...

Look at you, "STILL A KIA", WOW like if the Mazda Protege is in its own unique class.LOL.

You sure are in a cloud 9, dude the damn Protege is a beater car no matter how many turbos, mods, rims, tricks, at the end is a $1,000 pizza car.

What, the price difference between the Kia and a Protege is next to none. Suspension is almost the same chassis, spindles, struts, rotors, calipers, so... HEELLOOO, MAY DAY... your car is a half ass frikin KIa.

Lets thanks Kia to have made business with Mazda so we Protege and 323 owners can still find transmissions, cylinder heads and other parts that as time is telling are running scarse by the passing years.

By the way its a 10 second turbocharged KIA with the notorious BP05 with stock Kia transmission.

Stock KIAs are friggen slow, same engine, auto tranny and I friggen wasted it with a vaccum leak and retarded timing. They are built like utter ****ing ****, cheap breakable everything. The reinforcements in the rear of the cars are a utter ****ing joke, sheet metal should not bend with a pound of force. Worked on a few KIAs in my life, will never own/drive/ride in one.

Not all of them have auto trannies. In fact the 5 spd transmission is identical to the Protege Escort GT with the thick crankshaft. Cylinder head, lifters, even the cams are better...thick instead of hollow like in Escort or Proteges. May be heavier but do resist warping and breakage on high power turbo GTs and Kias.

The ECM can be swapped for a BP09 making it a total sleeper and having a lighter chassis thanks to the fact that sheet metal is thin and cheap. Anyway, there is nothin a roll cage and some welding will not do. Everybody has different flavors. I would not drive one myself, but just to be a little bit more open minded, having a Protege does not give you anything to brag about more than the fact that still are known as economical pizza delivery cars. To your eyes and many others a Protege is something out of this world. Just take your Pro to a dealership and trade it in to see how much you get for it.

All I am saying, Pros, Escort GT and Kias to the eyes of other people who have Integras, Subs, SRT-4s see these cars just being low budget point A to B cars.

it might look like it, but mechanically it has NO similarity...the 3 is built on the same platform as the focus and volvo

That makes no sense. I am now on my fouth Protege. I like them, for some reason. However, the Kia is a good car. My brother's owning one since new until it had somewhere like 130,000 miles with no "real" problems convinced me. He sold it ONLY because he wanted to buy a new car. The things that went bad on it were things like the radio button not working right and the door edge protector plastics coming unglued. I will not buy a Kia because I like Mazdas but it's a good car. It's not a great car or even close but it's good. I wish I could afford a Mazda 3 or a 6 but I will own one maybe8 years from now when I can afford one just like me current 96 Protege. I love Protys but if I find another superior car, for the money, I would switch. It just seems I'm always looking to replace my Protege with another.

                              AGREED.

The kias lifters dont knock..unlike teh proteges..and also the tranny is stronger...why?..i have no ****ing clue..is there proof?...well really, no....except for the puerto rican cats who go through mazda trannies liek water then switch over to a kia tranny and NOT break em.

                              Protege,323,egt,kia,tracer......same freaking cars.
