I was doing my spring clamp idea today, then i said wait... i am so stupid, i'm not going to mess with this crap and i'm going to do things properly from now on.

    soooooooo...

you know the strut mounts under the hood where you see three bolts...

i undid the center bolt in between all those, the strut came loose... anbd i cant get the bolt back i nthe hole for the life of me...

any idea? i'm lost... and never again will i try to do something ghetto... i've finally learned my lesson.

Your pretty much ****ed. That bolt holds the top hat on the spring. If you remove the strut, there is a high possibility that the spring could shoot out at you resulting in death. Those things have enough tension on them to shoot the spring all the way down the block. You will have to try to get a set of spring compressors in there and compress the spring so you can remove the strut and replace the top nut.

You should always use spring compressors if you're trying to do what you're doing. There's no point compromising your life just to save a few dollars here and there.

Don't just use the little clamp spring compressors that you got to lower the car either. Go rent the proper tool becuase if you mess up anymore on this you will be in a hospital for a bit.

I know it's spelled protege! I just can't change it. Deal with it!

Like Project said, rent spring compressors at NAPA or something. Take the wheel off, compress the spring, and then remove the whole strut/spring assembly. With the spring still compressed, make sure you place the spring in the appropriate position, and then tighten up the bolt you removed in the first place. Then, and only then, you should be safe to take the spring compressing tool off. Re-install the strut/spring back into the car.

                  Good luck.

we got it by fiddling with it... no more messing with it... lowering the car won't make a bit of difference engine wise, which is where it counts. lol blah next up... turbo done properly.
