    Manual tranny

What's the transmission code that came in the V6 mx3? Is it the same transmission used in the mx6?

Obviously, it's not in the pro FAQ and i couldn't find such good FAQ's for mx3 and mx6.

    Thanks

The Protege LX, Escort GT & LX-E and Tracer LTS all have G-series transmissions. These transmissions are used in numerous Mazdas including all 2.0 4-cylinder & 2.5 V6 MX-3, MX-6, 626, Ford Probe and 01+ Protege's. They have been known to hold up to over 300hp and ft-lbs of torque when not abused. They use 24mm axles and utilize an intermediate shaft to reduce torque steer when accelerating off the line. All G-series transmission have either a 4.11 or 4.39 final drive ratio and short gear ratios for quicker acceleration at the expense of fuel economy.

I read about G-series trannies but seen nowhere that they come in the KL motors (such as KLDE KL8 or KLZE).
First idea is to use a KLZE on a 4by4 pro
Second, use a KLZE and mazda3 tranny (G35M-R) in a first gen 323?

      Just thinking

I'm not sure they are the same, can somebody else confirm with codes from Mazda?

I can't tell you if they are the same, but check out www.mx-3.com forums and FAQ's.

But I do know this... if you're keeping the Pro LX tranny, you keep your same flywheel, clutch, axels... just bolt your Pro LX flywheel to the V6.

WTF people.... the internals are the same, but the bellhousing & transfer case are different. the V6 tranny will NOT bolt up to your BP. And the Pro LX stuff (Shades mentioned the flywheel above...) will NOT bolt up to the v6.

i know...i going to sound like a noob but what if you switch the bellhousing and switch the clutch and fly? will it work? or is it just to much of a pain to bother with it?

i've never seen the V6 tranny so i can't compare but what you're saying makes sense. From the codes, there is no way to know, they're all G-series.

NOTHING from the V6 mx-3 engine/drivetrain will bolt into a 4cyl mazda. the one thing thats the same is the CLUTCH (not the flywheel) 3 of the 4 engine/tranny mounts, and parts of the subframe.

but yes, the mx3/mx6/probe/626 came with a G series, and so did the BPs. the only similarities are the internals, nothing else, hense the reason you can an mx6/probe clutch in a protege/escort/lxe/sephia. they're actually a nice upgrade, thicker clutch better holding power.
