    i lowered my pro

I used the spring clamps. only used one clamp per spring, compressed 2 coils together.

front is lowered as far as it would go before the tires and all would hit...maybe i could go further, but i did not want to do anymore and risk it.

the back is naturally up higher now because the front was lowered. i left it that way... more traction in the front since it is front wheel drive, since weight is on the front...

handles amazingly good, stiffer ride, no bouncing, no braking or gas rolls... good stuff...

but should I lower the back, i dont care about looks, im thinking performance wise... or should i keep all my weight distributed on the front... so far im thinking leaving it on the front is the way to go since I know i like it, but if someone has any other experiences, let me know...

    pics will come soon.

I would lower it just a little in the rear, I agree about keeping the rear up a little to help with weight transfer.

I guess I just don't see clamping them as a way to increase performance. Seems to be a very similar result to cutting stock coils. You may gain slight cornering, but I would think ride quality would go to hell.

strutman, so i take it that your mostly into drag racing?

going straight, weight shifted to the front is always best...with a front wheel drive car that is.

yea, i've been cutting back lately, but pretty much if i do race, it's real quick look for cops, never at night because of visability, and never in heavy traffic, just look at each other and mash it...

i assumed front weight would be good...if i lowered the back the same i would lose that front wheel traction...that's why im probably going nto leave it as is...and i don't want it to be too low either, thats why i didn't slam it... lots of cops around the area lately since the 564 bust.

and i thought that too, i was praying that it would ride good... it rides great... stiff, but not breakneck stiff... it's very good and I am impressed.

                mr. gasket coil spring control

                got em from crappy jegs.com

if they hold up, they are good, if they don't hold up... it's trash. we'll see in time... so before anyone HA HA's at my super cheap idea... remember they are great except they have not been time tested yet, but if the do withstand time, then I found a nice little secret. - granted a real set is always going to be more desirable, and "better" but for my purposes, this works fine.

lowering the front isn't ideal, even for dragging, what's really more important in that specific instance is the spring rate, a stiffer rear spring will discourage weight transfer to the rear of the car, thus maintaining the front bias and providing improved front traction. clamping doesn't really do anything for spring rates, even on a progressive spring it's still marginal.

why the hell would you do this? I can't imagine this would be safe...see, this is the half assing you're getting a reputation for.
GET REAL LOWERING SPRINGS and new struts all around. You car's not a drag car so don't set it up like one. If you want performance, get adjustable struts on all 4 corners.

You're not going to lose traction by having a properly balanced car. If you actually gave a **** about it that much you'd have an LSD and big ass sway bars, strut tower bars, and high performance tires, for starters.
If you want to reduce understeer, stiffen the rear more than the front (this is an advantage of adjustable shocks).

I can't think of one good thing about what you did, sorry. It'll even look bad.

You can't be lazy and work on cars, that's a losing combination.

Seriously strutman be VERY CAREFUL if the clamp breaks while in motion the car WILL handle unexpectedly. I wouldn't trust two clamps let alone one.
