EGT Rear Strut brace, Who has one?

Long story short i have a rear strut brace from a 89 familia that ONLY existed that one year so i paid a arm and a leg to buy it. So finally got bored. Started cutting up my trunk interior pieces to only find out that it doesn't fit because our strut towers are angled in a few degrees and this bar is designed to sit flat on the strut tower and bolt up flat in the middle of the car. Soo uhhh yeah. Who has one on their car and what did you have to do to make it work? I really don't wanna have to sell this piece but i want/need a rear strut brace because of autox/lime rock!

I have a corksport one on my car. The ends swing up and down (but do not twist) so it went on nicely and it is quite rigit. I got as a good deal with a front one from this guy parting is EGT out.

For me, I just removed all the trunk panels altogether. It even gives me more trunk space and I sold my rear speakers.

mostly i see people just remove some panneling or trim it to accomidate the bar/use less deep speakers or whatever as well. i thought hatch's were the easy of the escorts to get rear bars on.

sedans are a pain but not impossible. somewhere along the lines someone started a rumor that rear bars don't fit on sedans. which is untrue considering i have one.

i've got a corksport rear bar, bolted right in. considering my interior consists of a dash and a pair of seats, i didn't really have to worry about cutting anything :o

if you need replacement trunk stuff, let me know- we've got a few hatches at the shop.

Do the cheap ebay ones do the job or are they too flimsy?

Hmmm... so i see now. ALL the other ones except mine have the "hinged" part so it can move up and down. Unfortuntly mine does NOT as its a solid ie VERY heavy duty piece BUT apparently the EGTs have the angled strut towers and thus i'm SOL on this one! But then again if i even get close to what i paid for it i can get the corksport one and still have money left over!

the cheap ebay ones will do the job for a dailydriver/weekend racer. but if you want a weekend/fulltime racer atleast get the CS ones if not a custom one that is inturgrated into your rollcage. i had teh cheap ebay ones on my red car for 4 years and enjoyed them. i know i could have stepped up to a nicer but it wasn't really worth it to me.

I wanted to add a little weight to the back of my car and wanted to change handling characteristics so I made my own. Using 2 peices of angle iron and a 2x6. There is no movement what so ever in my rear strut mounts. Only problem I have now is the doors creak when I pull into a shallow driveway .

Currently my rear end creeks when taking things sideways but from what i recall thats what happens when your lowered and don't have a rear strut brace!

I've got the old "RACTIVE" bar corksport used to sell, I just cut small holes in the trunk panels. My car creaks going over everything, but its way low with a huge rear sway bar, all poly bushings, front and rear strut braces, etc. I didn't notice a huge difference and I doubt there's that much more difference going to a more solid rear bar to justify buying one. I did get a GTX OE front as I think the stiffness will be more beneficial up there, especially now that I've got a generally oversteer attitude with the big rear swaybar, before I avoided stiffening the front like the plague to keep the understeer away.
