    New Ralliart seats on order

First off I don't want any razzing about buying cheap seats. They are all my budget could afford, and actually pushed the envelope a little too far. I just purchased a pair of black Ralliart seats off of ebay for $217. I had been trying to find some nice black mx3 seats but could not find them. So here is a pic:

With the way I have my suspension set up these should help me stay in the seat much better. If they are half as good as they look they will be more than worth it. Once they come in I will just have to get a little creative with the mounting due to my plans of keeping the factory retraints for the time being.

I actually think it is another subsidiary of mazda, correct me if I am wrong anyone. But for the price, and the fact my car is a hybrid anyway. I won't be upset either way.

Not only is Ralliart a part of Mitsubishi, but those are the same seats that are deathtraps. Just hope you never get in a wreck with those in the car, because you are in for serious trouble.

I'm curious, why are those seats death traps?

They are made by the same company that does the knock-off Mazdaspeed seats. They do not go through any safety testing like quality seats such as Sparco, Bride, Corbeau, etc.

A guy on msprotege.com had one break on him from just sitting on the damn thing. There have been other topics on other car boards about these where during a crash the seat basically folds in half because of its poor build quality.

I'm all for making cheap stuff work like the real thing where it doesn't matter, but on safety issues it doesn't seem worth it. Those seats look very nice but I would still keep an eye out for the MX-3 seats if I were you. Then you can replace them and resell these later on, before they break on you.

i actually liked how those seats looked but the Mazdaspeed ones. if you were getting them for your pro you should have gotten the MS ones rather than the one for a mitsubishi, at least it would have matched your car.

safety concerns aside (i know we shouldnt) but they look sharp.

I'm not going to repeat what everyone else said about safety.

The seats do look nice, but you should call the eBay store right away and ask them to send you the Mazdaspeed seats instead. Ralliart is Mitsubishi's race/rally team. It's like sticking a Type-R sticker on a Mustang.

About those black MX-3 seats - they're a myth. Virtually all "black" cloth MX-3 seats have dulled to the point of looking blue instead. And I can't imagine finding a mint set of leather MX-3 seats for less than what you paid for those knock-offs.

                    Good luck with those seats!

Thank you all for alll the responses, do realize they are gonna be cheap. I just need something that will hold me in my seat alot better. Even though these are going in my escort, these seats cost us more than our 97 pro ES. Hopefully one day in the future I will be able to afford some better seats. But that will have to wait until after my gtx swap.

You should be able to get them in solid black too. As mentioned above, I would call them today and see about swapping for the solid black or the Mazdaspeed seats.

I'm also in the same situation as you, I can't afford to go out and buy a couple Corbeau or Bride seats, they're just too expensive!

                          Good Luck!

I found the dark blue/striped newer style in perfect condition other than a little dirt for $100 for the set. They're out there.

They are a cool, sporty, comfortable, cheap upgrade to factory seats, and they bolt right in.
