agreed. i thought the same as you.
but just turbo the **** out of it..
with enough good mods and enough lightweight compartments, you could get the car faster than any engine swap.

      try http://www.hiboost.com

as far as i know, the chassis isn't too compatible with other engines (in comparison to a civic).

Just my personal opinion, but I trust the flying protege/miata kit the most.

            Hello,
I was wondering if anybody can help me?
Im kind of new in this forum and i just got my protege es with sports at transmission. Basically, im just starting out and Im trying to add more horses to my car. If you have any suggestions i'd appreciate it. I've also read that putting a turbo on your car really helps. I went to a couple of websites and found out that they only made it for the mp3 and speed. I was wondering there is one for my car?

            Thank you

I'm sure someone makes a turbo kit for your car. Checkout www.essentialspeed.com they make em for the 2.0 motor in the protege and protege 5. Call and talk to Kevin he should be able to help you out

from what i've been told, what fits in an MP3 or MSP, should fit in a 01+ Protege 2.0L model...

                      research it..
hiboost claims to almost double the whp... something like 225whp after turbo and new exhaust.
                      it's only a 6psi or 8psi (can't remember), too..
