That should be a pretty decent exhuast, although you could have done better than going with the pacesetter header. You should still see some very nice gains. Do you have an egt or lx.

EGT I went with the pacesetter to keep things cheap for now. I am still debating on whether to do an na or boosted buildup prob will be boosted thus this exhaust will just be temp.

Is there even a good header available for these cars anymore?

hey as long as i dont lose power over the stock mani im good. and that happening is such a rare chance i doubt it will. happened with my 89 scort but that was because of conditions unforseen ie ports being to big. wierd when that happens. but thats what happens when you try to shoot for 200 whp out of a 1.9 na

Is it just a plain aluminized Magnaflow muffler on the back? If so, get the Pacesetter resonated tip. They make a single 4" and single 3" one with 2.25" inlet. I got the 4" over the 3" tip just because there were a bunch on eBay at the time for $20 shipped. I probably would have went with the 3" if I had to pay full price. And BTW, the yellow stripe comes off if you don't like that part.

Actually, I've heard/been told by numerous sources that the old pacesetter 4-2-1 is better than the genie.

I was considering selling my pacesetter 4-2-1, which I believe is no longer available, and getting a genie for when I do the rest of my exhaust.

The genie looks a lot nicer and looks like it is a much better quality constructed piece, but the pacesetter 4-2-1 is actually a better design, so I stuck with it. Sure it has its drawbacks: the paint smokes off and the welds aren't the best and have to be repaired over time, but for what you pay for it, its definitely the best bang for the buck.

The new 4-1 pacesetter on the other hand, I dunno aboot that one.....

does your 4" diameter round magnaflow muffler have a 2.25" core? I was looking into getting a 4" dia. for my dad's oldsmobile intrigue a few weeks ago, and I found that they had either a 2.5" core, or a 2" core, both with 2.25" inlet/outlet. I then opted to go with the 6" diameter, which has a full-on 2.25" core and inlet/outlet.

If your core is 2.25", could you list the part number, as that is the preferable size that I'll be getting when I redo my EGT exhaust in a few weeks.

Hmm.. Just looking at Magnaflow's page, the 14" body (20" overall, which is what I was using) is either the 2.5" (10415) or 2" (10445) core, but the 22" body (28" overall, 10435) and the 18" body (24" overall, 10425) don't mention a discrepancy in the core size from the outlet size. hmm...

2.5 inch core. i used it before on a couple cars. not a problem that at all works fine no loss of pressure sound seems a lil deeper. but be warned if useing it was your only muffler its almost as loud as str8t pipes.

Including the header that isn't too bad of a buy. The genie would have been better through corksport but is alot more money.
