I found a little piece of metal that Mazda ingeniously placed so that you didn't need to bother with buying gas props for the engine.

I probably have a picture of it if you need it....

          Looks like my car, Jesse.

Anyways, you're gonna have to go custom, and blaze your own path, it's not something that's heard of on our cars. Maybe you could use springs.

I found this, it seems appropriate

              painting hood struts

Pull the struts off a 323 hatch, should be more than enough lift

so we still need to invent some kinda bracket for the left side of the hood....

                thanks for the ideas guys

uhhh may i ask why you are doing this? no offense but i question your motives? wouldn't 4 "Type R" stickers and a huge "MAZDA" windshield banner work just a well?

any yes if you did this it would be all custom
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

dont wanna speak like a ricer or anything... but i just wanted to put some kinda shocks in the hood since I saw it in one of my friends's maxima....

just open the hood and it stands up there, dont need to look to put the rod in the hole and stuff.... i guess just my way of being more lazy.....hehe...

                      meh, to each his own.

if you want something like that you are looking at a custom job, nobody here that i know oh has done anything like that. most people here are shaving weight. i know of a few people who have removed all none essential items, like that rod, and use something else to prop their hoods up for show

i agree.... everyone is looking into reducing their weights.... i havent decided on that yet....

but even these hood props, i just wanted to see the prospects for now.... but as you said, to each his own!!!

thinking about the layouts for everything, it'd take a bit of math, tac weld some custom brackets and gas shocks, you should be in business. though cost wise more trouble than it's worth and remembering that if you're not getting the right angle, may be too hard to shut the hood, cause strain on the hood latch, or could just not be strong enough for you. would be easier if i knew of mazda vehicles that already have these items, but either than that, you're SOL as far as simple means of installation are concerned.
