    Spec stage 3 lightened clutch

I just ordered a lightened version of the spec stage 3 this evening from www.ultrarev.com . It will be going on my 1.9L. I have some serious plans coming up. Of course alot of it will take time due to finances. Just keep on the look out for my future posts.

    Lightweight Option
SPEC's Lightweight Option can be added to almost any clutch. The lightweight version reduces the weight of the pressure plate by about 25%. This will increase rwhp by decreasing the rotating mass of your driveline, allowing power to transfer to the wheels more efficiently.
Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Drift, Road Race, Rallye, Pulling, Autocross

For heavily modified street and race engines. Offers sufficient daily drivability with a comfortable pedal feel and quick engagement. Offers good wear characteristics under low and high stress usage.

High clamp pressure plate, 4 or 6 puck carbon semi-metallic friction with high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit. 6 puck is standard on most applications, but 4 puck can be specified when ordering.

It was $370 shipped using the 5% discount on the front page for the whole package. The spec clutch are pretty nice. Alot of the zx2 guys use the spec clutches. I have installed 2 of them on zx2's. They are the only company that I have found that offer lightened clutches. Unfortunately aluminum pressure plates are not available although spec make them, just not for the 1.9. I bet they might have that option for the 1.8. If you were to e-mail spec I am sure they could tell you. Aluminum is an extra $170 over the clutch kit price, so it would be roughly $100 more than I paid for mine.

I run a standard SPEC stage-3 six-puck clutch in my Wagon. BPT engine, and the clutch is pretty darned good for streetability. The worst is reverse, because it's such a high ratio that it can get a little choppy until the break-in period is over. It takes a little bit to get used to driving it, because it almost seems like a binary clutch: either engaged, or disengaged, with nearly no slippage.

Personally, I'd go with SPEC again in a second, just because I am very satisfied with how it's working out. I might go with something else next time, though, just to play the field and test out other types, to see how they stack up.

I run the same clutch except in my 1.8. It is very very good grabs and holds excellent and isnt hard on the leg. You will love it!

Are any of you running the lightened version or just the normal. If figure between the clutch and flywheel I should be loosing about 16-18lbs off the crank.

I run the normal Stage 3. The lightened version is not worth it in my Option. If I remember it isn't that much lighter. just a couple pounds off the clutch. The flywheel is where the major pounds come off. But I totally agree, I would buy again, and yes, reverse is the only downside, and the whole learning how to drive with it.

I used to have a clutchmasters stage 5 on my egt that I used to have. I actually still have that clutch even though I don't have the car. Reverse was a little bit of a pain. I loved that clutch.

couple pounds off the clutch is just like a couple pounds off the flywheel...

I thought the aluminum pressure plate was just for Miata clutches?
                    Will they do others?
