    Complete AC Removal

Anyone ever do a complete AC system removal?

A snag kinda hit me, the nuts that are welded inside the lower rad support (for the crossmember) busted loose and the only way I can figure to fix it, is to remove the AC components to get access to the top of the support and either cut part of it away to install new nuts or drill out two large holes over each and install that way.

Either way time consuming, but if leaving the AC off, I will remove the compressor as well, but I would need a smaller belt.

    Would anyone know what size?

Just drive it without a belt. Power Steering is for wimps anyway.

I have my a/c system completely removed.

A/C was an option. Just ask for the non-a/c belt, its shorter because it only goes around the crankpulley and p/s pulley. Or you could just take the p/s out too.

i took my entire ac system out of my pro, dont know if its the same, but if u want to go all the way, u can remove the condensor and the evaporator in the dash(behind the glove box), i took it out and and got a duct piece out of a non A/c 323.

I have a full custom belt and routing right now. Removed the a/c and power steering on my lx. I am in the process of making a custom alternator bracket to delete one idler pulley and tensioner. The belt will go straight from the crank to the alternator. In the process I will install a new 50%udp.

I know removing the a/c system will take a good bit of weight off and be less drag on the engine.

Has anyone had any noticeable increase in throttle response or HP?, I know probably wont be much, but every little bit helps.

There isn't much performance difference unless you are comparing to the vehicle with the a/c on. The car does handle a little better with the little less wieght. Also if you take out the condensor the engine runs just a little cooler since more air can go directly through the radiator.

Any one have an idea on how to fix the rear bolt on the crossmember, both are pretty well sheared off.

One has about half the stud sticking out the other is right at the base.

                              Any ideas will be appreciated.
